      Another friend of mine quit smoking, and their doctor had told them that rewards were a good incentive but they should be of the tangible type (a material thing rather than an event of some sort such as a cruise). The dr's reasoning behind this was that a material item can be taken away but something like a cruise, cannot. My friend chose to buy a big screen tv on his one year milestone with all the money saved from not smoking. He also had an agreement with his partner, that if he ever started smoking again, the tv would be taken away & donated. Happy to say that they are still enjoying the big screen!

        Stopping smoking was one of the best things i have ever done for myself.

                    LOL! That's what I was thinking...how do I top this? Normally I'm happy with some new nail polish or something...I figured I could tell myself "You can smoke when the iPad is paid off..." because that may never happen. LOL

                        This is when my lungs are healing and get achy and hurt...I regret doing this to myself, but all I can do is NOT do it anymore!!

                          Hi Ne/Neva!

                          Thanks for posting! The news this mornig was talking about quitting smoking and saying that if you quit by 40 you can get back 95% of the time you cut off your life by smoking...the average life span is cut short by a decade for smokers...the earlier you quit, the more years you can get back. I keep reminding myself of these things...it's hard to imagine when you're young and healthy that one day it will hit you...and hard! I wish you luck in your quit...boy do I know it's not easy...this is my 4th SERIOUS attempt at quitting...and hopefully last. Keep me posted on how you are doing ok??
