I have quit with it before and it does work for me. the last time I quit with it, a friend died, and I started again - so this time I plan on staying STOPPED !! the time before that that I stopped, I broke my foot and was home bored and thought I could have just one..... ROTFLMBO !!!!! Or maybe it was the other way round with my quits - WHATEVER - I am half way through the book and you smoke all the way through - so watch out for me sometime next week.

I am so fed up with this smoking lark.......

I read the Easy Way to quit DRINKING and drank my way right thru it...BAD HIPPY!. Sunny, I really want to help you in anyway that I can to quit those fags. I lost both my Mom and Dad from smoking. My Mom died in her late 30s from lung cancer and my Dad died in his 50s from emphysema. I never smoked anything...not even weed, in my whole life. I guess I was just afraid. Thank GOD I never did cause my personality wouldn't have wanted to stop. Please do what ever it takes to stop. Your lungs will clear up and your body will heal if you stop NOW...PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE AGAIN!

        Hi Sun!
Oh my... I think my image of your sweet little Pooh Bear has just been shattered... now I'm starting to look it at like.... ummmmm.... smokey the bear??? :H :H
I've never read Alan Carr's Book, but I took a free online course that is very similar It too wants the reader to still be actively smoking while they go through the course. But, if you have already stopped, they don't want you to start again. I was in that category, and the course totally changed my attitude on smoking. I know for a fact that educating myself on smoking & taking that online course made all the difference this last time.
Maybe you could post what you're learning from that book... I'm sure there are others that would find that very helpful & inspiring.
Let's make butting out spread like wild fire!!

LMAO about "drinking your way through the book! :H I did similar things that I now shake my head & wonder what was I thinking?
My heart goes out to you Hippy.... your parents were taken from you far too soon. I'm glad you never picked up that habit... it's a tough one to break. My wish is that we can get through to young people to never start, to learn from our mistakes, so that they may never have to suffer the pain & consequences of the insidious addiction.

            No More Butts...The Beginning..

Thanks Hippy from making me be a thread killer - LOL !!! I am sorry about your parents - although my dad both drank and smoked, and died from cancer behind his throat. I was with him and also had him stay with me and watched him die....... VERY hard! My dad and I had such a special relationship. I miss him to this day. The Carr book, both the drinking one and the smoking one, for some reason have always worked for me. I just need to not start again - just excuses I know when I do - this time I will NOT !!!! I have about half way through the book (smoking one, which I feel is more important right now than the drinking) and am looking forward to getting to the end - sounds silly I know, but I have to do this my way.

Fallen Angel - I did laugh when I read your comment about your image of Pooh bear being shattered! New folk at work, are amazed when they find out I smoke - you would never think I do to look at me - I am veggie, and just don't look like your typical smoker. Although WHAT does a typical smoker look like? I WILL do this time time. So much stuff going on for me right now - lots of change and all happening together. i am feeling very positive.

What was the online course that you took just out of interest? ANYTHING to help !!!! As for posting what I am learning from the Carr book - most people here have heard about it - and there are two camps - some hate it and others love it - it either works for you or not. the same with his drinking book - it works for me........ but not for others.

            Hugs, Sun XXXX

Hi Sunni! I don't "look" like a smoker either, in fact nobody even knew I smoked because I ONLY did it at home in my backyard. I could go days without it if I had to (being around family) and it was no problem getting through the whole day without smoking. Somehow it kept me hooked for years though, just those few that I'd have during the day...when I was "relaxing"....now I am on DAY 15 and I don't miss it! I spent my lunch hours away from home the last 2 weeks, but today I am ready to go home and not feel the need to smoke. You can do this...keep us posted!
