Tips, I tried them (snuck a couple off of this particular cactus to tell the truth and it belongs to a neighbour!) Put them in the fridge to chill for hours and then peeled them. To tell you the truth, I didn't really like them all that well. Not a real distinct flavour. (Maybe that's why Mario doesn't remember if he ate one) Something like a cross between a melon and a grape...tiptronic_ct;859317 wrote: I love prickly pears. We can buy them in trays, with all the thorns / spikes removed. All you need to do is peel them. Can be a bit difficult to get hold of, though.
Do you know which part of the world they're originally from?
Can't really describe it. Maybe the ones they cultivate for commercial purposes have more flavour. Have seen documentaries on TV where they sell them on ice from a street stand and they seemed quite popular...

I ate cactus once, came in a jar shredded. Mexican I seem to recall, wasnt bad but didnt a lasting impression.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?Comment
