    Being proud of a friend~

One of my friends has gone 4 days without drinking, 4... it's probably been years since he has done that and it's an inspiration to me, I now want to do it too. He curbed his drinking to keep me safe while I was drinking while with him, he made me laugh and forget about some of the SHIT I have been through in the past few years. When I started at MWO in January, I tried to encourage him to try, now he is trying to encourage me to try. It's touching.
I know that we have all been through shit, we don't get to where we are without having gone through some bad stuff, some of us find it easier to get encouragement, some of us have enough self-esteem left and can accept compliments and kuddos, this person can not. Being able to get up, look in the mirror and not self berate himself was one of the comments he made to me this morning that made me feel so good for him. I, on the other hand, looked in the mirror and for the first time in a long time, knew I was hung over. I don't usually have facial changes from drinking, but today my eyes were smaller and my nose hurt. As he was heading off for a bike ride, I was getting the kids off to school knowing I would crawl back in bed, hide the day away, feel badly for the first time in a long time about myself, and wish I had not drank last night. So, with his inspiration and possibly with my/your encouragement, we/I can start this path...
I am going to truly try to 30 day AF. It starts tomorrow for me as today there is still alcohol in my system... THIS site does help!!

To those of you succeeding BRAVO!!! To the friend BRAVO!!!!! ((HUGS))
And just because I REALLY know you love this type of thing :goodjob::goodjob::goodjob::goodjob::goodjob::good job: ha!!

                  Being proud of a friend~

I just joined and have been looking at some of the threads. Like bpleasant's friend, I'm also a few days into trying to stop after years of nearly daily dosing. There are a lot of supportive people on here, but this thread grabbed me. The care and hope in that message, the sincere pride, the personal attention and respect. I hope your friend saw this. I read it and my own mild cravings vanished. I read it a few more times nearly in tears. Were this directed at me, if a friend of mine were able to express pride and encouragement in such a genuine way, particularly someone who understands the stuggle...the strength and determination that would give me. I'll remember this message in the next few days and weeks (and, with luck, months).

You're friend is very, very lucky...I truly hope he's seen it. He couldn't possibly turn back now.

                      Doing good~

Keeping busy really does help. I drank one night, didn't think I drank a lot but the hang over kick in late afternoon. Since, I have had 1/2 a drink, too busy to do much more, it feels good.
My friend, went 10 days also a hang over at 10 days. Would it have normally have been a hangover? Doesn't matter, another 10 days would be great!

Thanks all. It helps to read responses. I like being busy.

Hi Bp, nice to 'see' you

Perfectly normal to have hangover type feelings at 10 days. In fact there's some days even now I feel sort of hungover usually if I've eaten too much chocolate or sugary stuff and not enough water the day before.

                          Thanks,
