Close Call but I made it

    Hi OverIt
Thanks for your comments. This certainly is a roller coaster ride but its great to be able to share with all of you and keep my head on straight. I am better today drinking my Sparkling Grapejuice...

    Kind regards

Hazel, you are doing great. These strong urges early on are very normal. It's easy to feel like we're the only one when it's happening though!

I kept a WRITTEN list of stuff to do. Some of it was chore type stuff around the house. Other things on my list were more hobby or exercise related. Even things like visiting a local museum, etc. The best way to kill a strong urge in my early days was to get out my list and pick something to do. DOING something else took my mind off it pretty quickly.

The good news is that if you stick to it, you won't have to go through the early days of getting sober ever again.

        Hi Doggygirl
Thanks for your valuable advice. I agree, I need something else to do to take my mind off the thought. Actually I've discovered that with I have a strong desire to drink it is because I am over stressed. If I find someway to ease the stress like take a walk or a massage, or a spa bath then the urge to drink goes away. Amazing...but true

        Thanks again
