Shite NT.
I'm so sorry to hear. Don't do it. Don't drink. It won't help you cope. It'll make far, far more worse. And you have to be there for your sister and family now.
So sorry, really... Stay strong!!!AF since 15th March 2010
The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

Not drinking is what got not only me but my family through it. I supported them and prayed with themAF since 15th March 2010

NY,
Your sister is going to need you big time....her kids are going to need their uncle.
Drinking will just make this awful tragedy a million times harder to deal with in the long run.
I am so so sorry about what has happend to your BIL...I cannot imagine what you are going thru right now...
But drinking will not help. In your heart you know that.
We are here for you...day or night, there will be someone here to talk to.
Stay strong, you are going to have to be a rock for a while and it really is best to do that sober."It's not your job to like me, it's mine!"

Yes, my parents are there as are her in laws. I will most likely be flying out soon. We were just there in April, trapped for 10 extra days by the ash cloud. Even more grateful for that extra time with him. While we may not be able to control all that happens to us, we can control what happens inside us.

NT, very sorry to hear about this tragedy. You already know that drinking will not erase the event or your thoughts about it. Drinking would just make everything more complicated and you would pile on guilt and remorse to all the other emotions you are certainly feeling right now.
Stay sober. Your family needs you present.

NT - This is devastating news but can you imagine how you would cope with it hungover and depressed or how you could possibly be of support to your sister in that state. YOU MUST NOT DRINK! NO situation EVER improved with AL, you have to stay strong and focused.
I see you have reached 2 months sober! That is absolutely fantastic, Im sure you already know all the benefits it brings, dont throw that away! There are plenty of us here in GMT so stay around tonight if you need to chat to someone. :l"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

NT, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, particularly the way that your loss happened. I am sure you must be in shock! Thoughts of drinking are always our knee jerk reaction to overwhelming emotions, particularly when we are new to sobriety. But, you already know that drinking is not the answer for you. That is why you came here to talk to us, right?
Please take good care of yourself and then you will be able to care for your family. Lean on us, that is what we are here for.

Not Tonight - I am so sorry. Please stay close to the forum (even if it means all night or past AL sales time or whatever). Wanting a drink is (or was) default mode for all of us. You have had shocking news, and that would definitely be a trigger. As others have said, please stay strong. You have it in you, and someone is always here to listen and help you get past it.
