Help guys - I'm losing the battle

Johnny you say you've been looking forward to this for 6 years. Well, how about you print out that last part of Oney's post and put it somewhere to remind you just how much you could miss out on if you give in to AL.
Lots of good advice in the above posts. Good luck at your meeting.

And good luck to Greece. Just over an hour till kick-off. :dancin:

    Oops, cross-post...
    Haha. Good luck Greece.

Absolutely. I find this very encouraging. I will remember this.

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

Johnny, I'm not a soccer fan (sorry, I know half the board hates me now!!) but have seen how it creates such frenzy in it's fans. Another thing to think about - with all the drinking, the crowds, the amount of electricity in the air - what are the possibilities for something dangerous to happen? A clear head at those times is life or death.

                      Thanks Sheri, Rubes and Wanna!!

Great post Sheri. Another list to print out I guess. So, so true. Against what upsides? a quick 5 minute great buzz after the first drink or two before getting drunk and suffering.

Looking forward to the AA meeting and will definately go. Havn't got any L glut. Not sure I can get it here easily actually. Tippers if you read this maybe you can comment? I'll ask you later otherwise.

                      Thanks Wanna. You're a star.

Also great points Ruby. I value my sobriety and being albe to take care of myself and my family now. something I wasn't able to 3 months ago. My child could have been sick, having an accident and I couldn't even have gotten them medical care becaue I would have been to drunk to drive.

Johnny you want to enjoy the world cup and you dont want to drink. I think antabuse is an ideal tablet for a time like this. Im not a big fan of it long term but I have used it this way before. Put some on your bedside locker with water. When you open your eyes take it right away. Then you can say =thats the drink taken care of today-now I can enjoy the football. There is a world cup thread on mwo too. I know there are a lot of fans on the forum. I am more of a sex and the city girl myself!

Hey Herose. Yeah. I really appreciate Antabuse for what it does. Just out of it at the moment and impossible to get for me without the script. So won't before next week. Been on it for 3 months last year and for the first 4 weeks of my most recent AF sting.

Thanks for posting. I really value the support on here. it's great.

hey johnny. sorry youre feeling crap. bloody well done for not caving. just think of the whole new experience of experience these events SOBER. you can do it. there is so much of a buzz where you are, just enjoy the experience. music is my football, i used to love going to festivals. my last glastonbury went quite tits up and i lots of the bits i remember (which isnt much) were none too good for the state i was in. no photos, not many good memories... just booze. as oney said in her wonderful post.. fast forward and see how it feels. dont give in now... it will be something more to feel crappy about this. you can do this.. and you will feel so good for it.
Today is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

L-Glut is dead easy to get hold of at most health shops, especially those attached to a pharmacy.

Ask for the Solal brand. The 200g bottle of powder works out cheapest. Its locally manufactured, but very good quality. If all else fails, take Baden Powell Drive to Stellies and come and get some from me.

Something else that worked wonders for me: Rooibos tea - strong brewed with some sugar or honey...
                              I'll do whatever it takes

Go Johnny! Hope you get some L Glut.

My Yoga class takes place next to a restaurant, lots of drinkers there 3 hours early for their big screen match experience, very loud lively already, I trotted serenely by, not envying tomorrow's hangovers....

                                Bets.
