Help guys - I'm losing the battle
Like sobriety is just not good enough for me tonight....AF since 15th March 2010
The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

Oh dear Johnny,
What set you off? Do you know WHY you want that drink? Is it a feeling of not being able to control something (work) or someone (a coworker)?
I agree with Jackie. Pop that Antabuse NOW so you won't be in turmoil anymore. You sound like you're suffering terribly.

I was just driving home... and for some STUPIDDD reason I just started thinking about having a beer. I don't know why... it hit me out of the blue. And I didn't stop the thought there. Like I know I should have. I started obsesssing for a short while about that drink but then gave up the thought knowing that friend was coming over.AF since 15th March 2010

Johnny,
I re-read your post and here's the thing....that instant gratification of having that drink will not be worth it because your wife will be SOOOO upset with you? Is AL more important than your wife's love and respect? NO!!!! She's been so proud of you because you've been sober and now you feel like your defense mechanism bailed out on you so what's there to lose? Everything. You'll have that drink and then you'll be trying to repair your relationship with your wife....begging for forgiveness....feeling shame. I speak from experience. I've been there....the shame I felt was NOT worth that drink. We're all here for you.
