Help guys - I'm losing the battle
yeah I know.AF since 15th March 2010
The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

It just makes me feel sooo bad that I feel so weak. It's unreal. It's like this mornign I was still trying to support other people in their fight with sobriety. And now I feel so pathetic.AF since 15th March 2010

Johnny,
Why CAN'T you cook? Wouldn't your family enjoy you sober, making them a nice meal. Your kids are going to think their dad is great for cooking such a nice dinner. Why do you have to wait to have a guest to cook a nice meal for your family?
It's something that I've started doing more of since I quit drinking.
Ok, I have Antabuse here.....even though I take NAL to fight the beast. I am going to pop mine right now but only if you'll take yours with me.
Are you in or not?

Johnny my friend. I am partially writing this to offer support, but I am also writing to offer my sincere gratitude to you. A few days ago I was in the shit! I felt awful and didn't know what to do. I posted here under the title 'Not such a positive note' and you were the first one to come through for me. Your words helped me so much and I want to return your kindness with similar advice but in truth I cannot put it as well as you did the other day. So I have taken the liberty of a 'cut and paste' for your reflection.
Hey Johnny.
In my still limited experience these feelings come and go. There's times it is a lot tougher and times it is a lot easier and joyfull. The very success of sobriety is I guess, how good you manage those bad times.
So the most important thing to remember is that it's a season, it's only limited in time. It will be better again. Nothing worse then start thinking: It's so tough, what the hell I can't keep this up for life in anycase. Start thinking about how you're going to get through today and tackle the day in the same manner tomorrow. ODAT. And believe me when I tell you, there will be easier times again. Who knows, you might be feeling well better tomorrow, tonight, the day after tomorrow.
The last time I really felt I couldn't cope anymore, 2 days later I felt like it never happened. So stick it out. It's so worth it!!! And yes, there is some relearning to be done, getting to know yourself again as a sober being and learning to cope with feelings.
It's not all that bad doing these things AF. It's just in your mind. As it is in mine as well. It's a lie we have believed for too long. That we can't cope without AL.
I wish you the very best. PLEASE, please stay strong mate.
Thank you for your help, and you were right;"The greatest hazard of all, losing one?s self, can occur very quietly in the world, as if it were nothing at all. No other loss can occur so quietly; any other loss - an arm, a leg, five dollars, a wife, etc. - is sure to be noticed." Soren Kierkegaard.

JC, I don't feel quite comfortable. I don't know the guy. I feel much more comfortable posting here where ppl know my story. I should have gone for that coffee with him then. That might have changed it a little.AF since 15th March 2010

Oh Johnny, I am SOO sorry you're having such a struggle. You have done so well...please consider everything before you make a decision. Do you really want a hangover tomorrow? Do you really want to start over?
I had similar thoughts last night. I thought "If I stop Antabuse today, I can drink on July 16th (safely)"....but then I mentally pictured that happening...the taste of the beer, the bloated feeling, and then waking up the next day spinning with a screaming headache.
We all have those thoughts...but thoughts do not have to become reality. Please, please hang in there.
Sending positive thoughts your way :h
K9:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:
Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.
