    Just popped in for a quick look and saw your post Johnny. Glad to hear the little guy is feeling better. Just a question - has the doctor given the baby antibiotics for the ear infection? It is necessary and vital that it be cleared up as soon as possible. The infection from the ear canal can apparently spread to the optic nerve. At least that's what I was told some years ago when we had older son in hospital for 6 days with acute ear infection. There was a young girl there - 12 years old - from a village and although she had complained of a sore ear for many days, her grandmother did the old fashioned remedy here of putting a little warm oil in the ear and a bit of cotton wool. Apparently the infection spread to her optic nerve and her eye "turned out" because of it, leaving her eye permanently "wall-eyed" - strabismus is the correct term. Just saying you need antibiotics to clear up the infection.

      Hi JC. Baba is a lot better though. It's just that time of year as well. Blimmin cold in winter. Hope that's it with the kiddies sicknesses for this winter. Not sure I can cope with it anymore

              That sounds hectic!!!!

              Yes. He got a liquid Antibiotic we need to administer twice a day. Plus some anti inflammotory liquid that's supposed to help with the fever, plus the supositorys.

              Doc says it could take about 2 days for the Antibiotic to work though.

                Johnny when my kids were very little I honestly used to book an appointment with the doctors once every 2 weeks. If they didn't need it I would just cancel the day before. There's only 20 months between them so one of them usually had something that I couldn't deal with.
                It could be worse, I could be filing.

                  yep johnny I agree with stirly..
                  you should be very careful with ear infection, can lead to all sorts of probs..
                  even brain damage..
                  don't wanna sound harsh but that was why I kept saying to take him to the doc..
                  it's better sooner than later to catch these things
                  especially when so young..
                  they are very vunerable, and the doc won't moan that you come too much
                  or if it turns out to be something minor..
                  it just shows a concerned caring parent..
                  always if in doubt..up to the doc.....don't just wait for it to clear and get better..
                  fever is 99% of the time infection that must be dealt with..
                  not just bring the temp down, coz the infection will still be there...and is not being treated..!

                    and give the antibiotic doses correctly spot on time as prescribed..
                    or it won't work and can even get worse..

                      Sure.. Did take him to the doc same day though. Well, the day before he had a mild temperature allready but he was teething too. So am very happy I did take him. When I came home and saw he still had a temperature I told my wife immediately we were going to the doctor.
                      I wish my wife was driving. that would make things so much easier. that's our main problem really. I struggle to get time off work and it's obviously difficult to go to the doc afterhours. Last night we were so lucky because I went to the medical centre and wanted to admit him as emergency but our doctor was still there so lookd at him.

                              For sure, bottom line there is nothing to gain by waiting to see, just whip them down to the doctors swiftly and get it checked out.
