    Army Thread 15th June

I'm still here. didn't kill the thread Dragon

Tippers, how are you friend?! You've been quite on the whole Vuvuzela issue I see. Or you're just avoiding the soccer related threads?~! :H
    AF since 15th March 2010

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

If one of my kids blow their vuvuzelas in the house on more time, I will revert to corporal punishment.

For the rest, I don't really care

:H:H good views. Same here. And I think the neighbor feel the same. Now I made the mistake and bought one of those mini vuvus. Now the big one I don't think my 3 year old would be able to blow. It requires quite a bit of skill you might now. But those little ones. Easy to blow. And make ONE HELLUVA noise, I tell you.

I'm sure I will be corrected, but this is my feeling on the * things.
When I visit another place, another culture, I enjoy the differences, never try to impose my lifestyle where I visit. While those VUVU's may be a cultural, understood, accepted thing there, SA is HOSTING the World Cup. So, as opposed to people coming in uninvited and complaining, this is a situation where the world was called in, invited, and as hosts , it's incumbent to at the very least not annoy the shit out of people who've never heard the things. If you've never experienced something this aurally invasive, and you've spent a fortune to get there to watch things, it can truly ruin your experience.
I'm sure the things are great in the right setting............No I'm not, unless you're sending signals, etc. :H All a matter of what people are used to. OK, sermon over.

Fair enough Rubes, But you forget that the people that are actually there are not complaining. The foreigners have all bought their own plastic trumpets in their nations colours and are happily blowing them. Believe me it's not nearly as annoying in the stadium as on the tv

Fair enough too, John. I'm not there, understand both sides of this, but truly I have an issue with noise, have since I remember. There is NO real solution to this.

Yeah. I'm in the same boat too. As a South African obviously try to convey a bit of understanding. It actually irritates me on TV more. It was great being in the stadium yesterday and then they blow the things really loudly when it comes to corners, etc. it builds atmoshpere while on TV it's perceived or heard more as a constant humming that doesn't change.
