ooooh I used to love hearing about how crap other peoples lives are...total voyeur. Now I just find it sad....I guess the 'how good my life is now' part would ease that.

                Morning all here also.
Gawd it's freezing here also lucky one of annoying hubby's more endearing habits is to arise at 4 am to chock up fire before returning to bed. Finally something useful about him.
Junior penis-bearer will be assigned firebox filling today in return for eating last mini Magnum after dinner. Senior penis bearer will hopefully be out of house a bit more also.
Had puter melt down last night but smugly told both penis bearers i was watching Master Chef & they'd better shut the fuck up, or words to that effect. It worked. Also working was 2.5mg valium,2 cups sleepy tea & early night. Btw, sleepy tea is really a herbal tea, not some weird hallucinagenic illegal shit ok?
Good on you wavey for at least going to AA & better still for getting the hell out of the pity party. it would bore me shitless i reckon. drag me down like a whirlpool. as if i need help in THAT direction - can do it well enough by myself.
Day 2 here for me. I've upped me Topa.
Rode my mare yesty & she was a haggis, prob reflected my own personality but still.
Will be back in the saddle (all puns intended) again this arvo.
Hope to catch you all again later, ron.

Bluey the Rich - I wish

G'day Beagle. Hope you are having a better day today than I did yesterday.
As to my great wealth, I have to disabuse you, unfortunately.
What I did have was a run of unbelievable luck. It was no fault ot mine. Just happened.
How could I possibly know that the little terrace house in Ultimo would skyrocket? I didn't even live in Sydney. I had no idea there was going to be a monorail. Likewise with the business. When I bought it the industry was in it's infancy. Coca-Cola funded it massively and extraordinary profits were made. Subsequently they removed the funding and support when they established their own operation. That's how they work. They see if it's a goer and if it is, they take it over. Fortunately I was in and out by then. The other properties just happened to be sold at the height of a boom (again, none of my doing)
But remember, out of all that I had to buy a new house in Noosa and they ain't cheap.
Sure, I had enough left to live on without working, but hardly an excessive amount. There are some really rich people up here (eg Richard Branson) and my total net worth would be only pocket money to them. So there it is. I just get by on an averagish income. I wish it were more.

                    Bluey the Buddhist

                    Yes. That's me.
Buddhism is an attitude. There are some texts but in the variety I follow, the learning is mainly by way of short succinct stories that illustrate a moral lesson. Think parables.
                    One of these is:-

There were two monks travelling together through China. One a Zen monk and the other a Nicheren monk. They came to a flooding river where there was a slight young woman trying to cross. She was afraid and asked the monks for help.
The Zen monk said he would carry her across with her baggage and he did. She thanked him and went on her way.
Several hours and some miles later the Nicheren monk said to The Zen monk: 'Brother, our teachings say that it is not proper for a monk to get close to a woman or to hold her like you did, so close to you.'
The Zen monk replied ' Brother, I picked up a burden at one side of the river and put it down on the other. At the same time you also picked up a burden in your mind, and you have still not put it down.'

This is the way of Zen.

                      Arvo all,

Well I LOVE brusell sprouts! Bluey - the waygu was fantastic - great taste and I love that fatty marbelling. Who wants soft arteries anyway? It was quite a thin piece so I gave it approx 60 secs each side on a seriously hot griddle - no prodding, poking or turning more than once. Them's my steak rules.

I reckon there's a few of us here with buddhist leanings. I know Rags is seriously into it.

Beags - today I made the Master Chef ham hock terrine. It's sitting in the fridge in its pancetta-lined mould with a brick on top. Looking forward to the unveiling.

Brilliant arvo down here so I'm back outside to weed with chooks in tow. Weeding with chooks is pleasantly calming and quite zen.

                      Oooo-rooo.

Blue, feel not the need to explain or justify to me. my words were with linguistic muscle firmly implanted into left oral cheek (had to clarify which cheek in case some people questioned otherwise). i meant no more on it than stating that reggie was having acid flashbacks. 'ploggies for offending.
If you had a bad day yesty, then be zen & leave it behind. i like buddhism philosophies. my mother's been one for years due to her own personal reasons - maybe having cathlocism rammed down her throat from an early age might have been one of 'em, plus alco dad & schizo mum....anyways, i have perused some of her books etc etc but found, strangely, that after many years of her apparently "being" a buddhist (her own words) she seems to carry a few hypocrises imho. human flaws i suppose.
