Good news for today, my Uncle isn't as gaga as my brother made out. Mr JC and the daughter went to see him last night. He's been moved onto a much better ward and my Aunities have found a superb nursing home for him.
Excellent news on your Uncle Jackie. And good about the nursing homes. Some of them here are in bad shape. We were lucky and found a very good one for my Mother-in-Law when the time came. Cost us an arm and a leg but it was worth it cause the food and care were good. In spite of that, I used to go down and browse around the kitchen when the cooks had gone to see how clean it was, etc. and be there most evenings to make sure she was bathed properly before bedtime. Some of those things you really have to keep on top of even in the best of facilities. The supervisors may have high standards and the best of intentions but sometimes the "carers" get a little "care-less" if there's no one around to see what they did or didn't do. Like if an older person is not really aware of what's going on, who's going to know if you washed behind their ears or not or if they ate a proper amount of food for dinner. Things like that. We were pleased because the place was clean and bright and cheery as opposed to other places which were dreary and more like a hospital. Anyway, glad to hear they've got a good place for your Uncle to go and I hope he will be very comfortable there.

A friend told me when visiting nursing homes not to make appointments and just turn up unannounced., so they don't have time to prepare for a 'visit'. This place is only a quick metro ride away and you can pop in anytime.

                            Morning Trooper's!

The moving of a sprinkler requires careful consideration, i find Gyco. Having a plan is essential.

                            Best wishes, G.

toasted bacon and cheese sandwich, Carrot cake with Ice cream and bottomless coffee. All the ingredients for a great lunch. And great it was

mmmmmmm,,,, the cinnamon taste of the cake still lingers.
