    Some Home Truths

    1. If you're here because you have a problem with alcohol and you want to do something about it then expect to be challenged at times regarding your your actions and your beliefs. More often than not it's those 'beliefs' that are keeping you delusional and in denial of how serious a problem you have. I didn't get well by being wrapped in cotton wool or being told "Mummy will make it all better". I needed to hear the TRUTH.

    2. This is NOT a social networking site. If you don't want to put action in around your sobriety then may I suggest you go and join Facebook. There's plenty of applications there for you to keep yourself busy and to stop yourself from facing reality.

    3. Guess what? I don't see eye-to-eye with everyone on here too. Get over yourself and stop taking everything you read so personal and stop letting people's opinions consume you.

    4. Opinions are exactly that; opinions. I don't need to justify my posts anymore by telling YOU that or apologizing for having an opinion.

    5. Stop judging people based on your own conditioning (which is what it is). No one here has fingers clean enough to point. e.g. I don't understand people who go down the route with medications (namely bac.) as their method of recovery. I just don't get it. But people have found this works in their lives. So, who the hell am I to sit here and judge these people based on the fact I choose to see things differently? If you've found something that works for YOU then give it %100. There's no right or wrong method of recovery, only your own. Compassion and tolerance of others makes things a lot easier for your own recovery too. Stop pointing the fingers people!

    6. The whole world doesn't revolve around YOU.

    7. Stop allowing your ego to make posts in threads that don't concern you. (I'm not perfect I can still make rash posts myself). Ask yourself why is it you feel the need to make a post in a particular thread before jumping in. Are you bringing something of yourself to that thread to help someone, or is it ALL about you (see 6.)

    8. Even I need to be reminded from time to time that I'm not alone. Give praise where praise is due. (Do NOT mistake this for enabling though.)

    9. If you're not taking responsibility for your life and your actions then how the hell can you be expected to get 'back on the wagon'. Ask yourself, where you really there in the first place i.e. "on the wagon". or where you just clinging to the side for dear life.

    10. "To thine own self, be true"

    Have a beautiful day.
    Many Blessings

      I agree phil.
I would like to add, it cost nothing to be polite and respectful of others, especially if you dont see eye to eye. Spare a thought for the person who finds this site for the first time in a state of total despair and is turned off from joining because of the bickering.

          Thanks Phil....

One of my fav books is "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz. The agreements are simple but for me set out a great code of conduct....

          1. BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD - Speak with integrity, say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth & love.

          2. DONT TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY - Nothing others do is because of you. What others say & do is a projection of their own reality. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you wont be the victim of needless suffering...

          3. DONT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS - Find the courage to ask questions and express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life!

          4. ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST - Your best is going to change from moment to moment, it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstances, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse and regret.

As I read Phil's post I interpret it as mostly just written by a person with misdirected anger.
I guess my first interpretation is incorrect?

                    Hey 67,

                    Nice to see you again.
I suppose Phil will be along to have a chat about that, but to me, it's more of a 'firm' no nonsense sort of post, rather than an angry one. For me though, it can sometimes get a little tiring seeing folk's bicker with each other, but i also understand that this is where they are on there journey, and not where i am, but respect for other's is something i alway's try to remember.

Best wishes, and i love your art work, not to mention your beautiful avatar.
