    Some Home Truths

    very well said Phil...

I took a comment yesterday to heart and it was only a mistake by the author....
in turn it upset him that I was upset.....
hopefully all is good now we've pm'd eachother to explain ........
so I will be back to my redness...
as I don't use it to shout or offend, I used it for fun when tigger was with me and wrote the scripts in red and it stuck.......

      Some Home Truths

Hear hear..alot of wise words from a wise man... 1,2 and 9 really struck a chord with me. It was hard hitting but thats ok. Hearing the truth about ones own life has to be honest and honesty can be hard to hear..Killing to hear actually. Im so tempted to talk about myself now but i wont coz this post warrants comments, opinions, not personal stories i guess. I have to say, just to re-enforse your words really..It is so important NOT TO JUDGE people here on this site or anywhere in the walks of life...'Each to their own' has and always is my life motto.

Being alcoholic doesnt make us bad people but it can make us feel alone in our own worlds...no one to talk to in the 'real' world, so i guess, coming here to MWO we feel like letting rip sometimes, a sense of freedom to express our woes....and joys..

Phil, you are tremendous. Thankyou for inspiring me to jot this down....

Chill-girl....Fab post too. I strive daily to achieve those points you made..Im fairly proud of who I am...maybe not of who i have become.. XXX Bella

Thanks Phil and Chill for your wise words. Chill, I particularly like the line; 'what other people think of me is none of my business'. As a person in the early stages of recovery I am hoping that the level of reason in both of your points is something I may humbly aspire to when I have become comfortable in my sober skin. Currently if I am not careful I find myself getting lost in my thoughts and although I am intelligent enough to carry the metaphorical sword of reason with me, I do not always have the strength to draw it when I need to. I think this is however mostly applicable in the world that does not have a screen and a keyboard as it's main feature. I feel that when we have the opportunity to read and reflect upon what we are about to react to there can be little or no excuse for unreasonable behaviour. That being said I remain fully concious of the fact that when one points a finger, there are usually three more on the same hand pointing back, and I pray that every individual who logs onto this website can find some peace of mind.
"The greatest hazard of all, losing one?s self, can occur very quietly in the world, as if it were nothing at all. No other loss can occur so quietly; any other loss - an arm, a leg, five dollars, a wife, etc. - is sure to be noticed." Soren Kierkegaard.

              Some Home Truths

just wanted to add my little piece too! Great thread and a really timely reminder for me.
I too, love the saying 'what other people think of me is none of my business' oh the time I've wasted crying and agonising over someone elses opinion of me. Well, no more, I think it becomes less of an issue as I get older (cringe). This self awareness I think is helping me in my journey to sobriety. Thanks all.

"What you think of me is none of my business" - thanks, really. I used to worry way too much about what others thought of me - I love this quote.
