    It Is Bastille Day

    Because of my French connections I am well aware of this celebration.
    I have lost count of the many years that I have celebrated it. Mostly in drunken revelry, but it speaks to my heart. The triumph of truth over despotism. The words:

    Allons enfants de la Patrie,
    Le jour de gloire est arriv? !
    Contre nous de la tyrannie,
    L'?tendard sanglant est lev? !

    There is more, but this is it's soul. Sung with verve it makes the hairs stand up.
    Any Frenchies here? If so, I am with you tonight.
    Vive La France!

        Great idea greeneyes. I'm piss awkward with that sort of searching, otherwise I'd do it.
        Anyhow I have a fat drunken brother-in-law who can do instant (and endless) replays. All he needs is a kick and an 'encore.'

              Greeneyes....Magnificent! Beautiful mouth, beautiful eyes. Much better than my fat brother-in-law And, she can sing. I'll be keeping that one.
              I am a Scot myself and 'Highland Laddie' does the same thing for me. I was silly enough in my youth to enlist (briefly) in the army...not much choice really, I was 'balloted' in .But HL was our regimental tune (Black Watch)...I'll never forget it as long as I live. And, like the Marsellaise it makes my hair stand on end.

                    The Americans led the way. It took a while 'til the Frogs got up enough gumption to tip the bucket over (1789) Their famous motto at the time was: 'Don't just do something - stand there.' Sadly some of them follow it to this day.
                    Anyhow IAD, I am very fond of my Yankee friends and love their, 'Can Do' attitude.
                    That, mate, is why you are Top Nation. And long may it stay so.

                      Thanks Blue....but this new president we have know is screwing up our country ! He's trying to turn us into a Socialist State ! He' a Socialist !
