At Frigging last, I have time to come in for a landing.

Oh dear ! I actually thought about the Frog/chook house before passing out last night, with this bizzarre weather Victoria is having.....I CANNOT stand wind. So bloody destructive....so I must be one of those women and/or horses to which your cow cockey mate refers, Froglet.

Thanks Sapphire, it's taken a lot of sustained effort to get those levels stable. Interesting about the Topamax and BP/weight loss. The only thing I'd be afraid of with Topa is the forgetfullness etc. I'm already such a frigging space cadet, I kid you not. You are doing SO well by the way.

Maybe we just roll with Betty P's condition, apply for a disability pension, and enter her in the Disabled Olympics ?? What an inspiration. She could end up on 'Today Tonight'.......what top draw journalism THAT show represents

Latest polls that I've read are 52/48 in favour of Gillard.

Has been as close as 50/50.

So, this is what went down yesterday. After the first load of water gushed into the Froghouse, I frantically squeegied. I also stopped taking photos. Don't know how many buckets I bailed out. It wasn't until I grabbed a pump and lowered the water level in the big fishpond that I started making some progress. Fishpond now had some space, so, water finding it's own level, went into the pond instead of the house.

Came on here and had a whinge. Found the chooks and tucked them up. Read Missy's post and was ok with candles, torches etc but bugger me dead, at 7.17pm the bloody power went off. That's when it got seriously scary. Even though the Froghouse has 18" thick walls which gives fantastic sound insulation, I could still hear the gale outside and listened to limbs and shit blowing around. What's the big deal about candle light anyway? Nothing I could do about what was going down but I readily admit to shitting bricks. Don't know what time I went to bed but was startled awake at 1.30am when the power came back on and the telly was blaring. Went back to sleep.

Did the big tour this morning. The houses are safe and undamaged. All roofing is still on. The shed had flooded but water's gone again. Completely lost one garden structure which is a shame because it was one of the first things I built but that's ok. Loads of tree limbs and branches are down but only two large trees got ripped out. That's ok too because once I cut them up it's more fire-wood.

Big bonus - all tanks are overflowing. AND ... get a load of this. The dam is chockers. Can't remember when that last happened. Downside is - a boat that I had parked upside down on the bank is now completely under water. Stuck. Upside - I saw two cranes and a duck on the dam. Water birds just aren't part of the scenery here normally.

So - all's well that ends well. The Gungurru Gums have just started to flower. The clean-up will start when I can drive the ute without getting bogged.

I like to cut them into 12" blocks when they're green but then let them sit for ages before splitting.

                      Oh - the emoticinythingys - I'm obviously still a tad stressed ...

                                Hi again today Underoonies.

Tawny, glad you got away with as little damage as you did. Must have been scary as hell when the electricity went off. I definitely would not have liked to be alone in the dark with a raging wind and rain. Was that a eucalyptus tree that blew over? The roots don't look very deep. We had two days of rain and then strong winds a few years ago and I remember a lot of trees got blown completely over or left at a 45 degree angle. The roots just couldn't keep them in place in the soggy ground with such high winds. Good that your animals are all safe and sound. Surely things will dry up soon.

MissB. Good news about your kitty. Hope she keeps improving.

Wishing you all a lovely day.
