Must say with good reason Reg! I have not any faith yet in our mental health system. there is still such a lot of bad history.. even though there are some enlightened people around now, all the old wierdos from the dysfunctional past are still in the system holding jobs. They are scary people... i know cause i met em years ago so will always steer clear!

It's going to take time to separate out the people that believe in 'mental health' from the old school people that believe in calling depression a 'psychiatric illness'.

My perspective is that if you lose someone you love you go through depression as a normal, natural and healthy process. The freakin GP's would medicate you and say it's an illness. In my opinion if I was not depressed after a loved one died THAT REALLY WOULD BE MENTAL ILLNESS!!! Grrrrr

[QUOTE=fickle;940865]OK, how much should i start with Reggie? Remind me pleaseQUOTE]

you should start very small doses..
      I started on 2.5mgs every 8hrs then slowly 5mgs each 8hrs etc.
now I take 10mgs in the morn so it's in my system, then 25mgs midday and at night
if in a stress situation a booster of 25mgs..
you must be careful not to up the dose too quickly..
at first I felt dozy in the daytime and my sleep was right off the wall, but once you get to a level (you will know when that is)
      it is good..

Personally Fickle, I think it's all about your head and what you are thinking..

I drink because I am bored or upset..

I have suffered Depression and Anxiety but find it diminishes the older I get and the more in control of AL I get...

I'd suggest Diazepam to withdrawl with a good GP, who will see you once a week to see how you are doing...

You need to ask, but you also need to find the right one...

Just book 3 appointments in a week and pick one....Get on with it...

I titrated down on the AL as I was titrating up on the Bac..
it helped with the withdrawal effects from the AL
                I had been drinking 37yrs...
so it was NOT something to be stopped abruptly without medical help...
I have been in detox 3 times, and each time fell back..
I lost my son because of it..
but now with the help from friends here and the Bac I am AF and have my baby boy home with me....

it does work and it is worth trying your best to beat it...coz you can do it....
