    Army Thread 2nd August

Jan CONGRATS on 7 months! You are same time as me but it seems so much longer for you, I think because you have been through so much.... :l

      it is sooooooo painful
Jan, my husband had something similar many years ago. From lifting heavy things the wrong way. It can be very serious. From what I understood way back then - in 1987, I think, what happens is the muscle splits and a part of the intestine bulges through. Mr. Stirly used to get a "crippled leg" and could hardly walk from the excruciating pain. He would push on the spot and try to get the bulge back in. He finally had it operated on because I read somewhere that if you can't get the intestine back in place, you can actually get gangrene in that part of the intestine and then you're in big trouble. After hearing that, he finally decided to go under the knife. Had two hernias. After they repaired the first one, the second one started to bother him more and a month later had the second surgery. He now has two plastic mesh pieces sewn onto the lower abdominal muscles where the bulges used to poke out.
Anyway, I just googled it and this is what I got. Something similar to what I had read then but in more specific medical terms.

A strangulated femoral hernia occurs when a femoral hernia blocks blood supply to part of the bowel - the loop of bowel loses its blood supply. Strangulation can happen in all hernias, but is more common in femoral and inguinal hernias due to their narrow "necks". Nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain may occur with a strangulated hernia. This is a medical emergency. A strangulated intestine can result in necrosis (tissue death) followed by gangrene (tissue decay). This is a life-threatening condition requiring immediate surgery.[2]

I am normally good and can put up withpain, but this just doesn't stop..
I've got the S.S. coming in the morn and need to seem that I'm on top of everything...
at the mom picking up toys etc is not possible..
and I can nag ollie and he knows mummy's hurting, buthe doesn't realise how much
and I don't want to worry him..
Is there a clinic or doctor still open to call for advice. It appears to me that you shouldnt be left in that much pain. I wouldnt worry about SS, everyone gets ill from time to time. Do the right thing and seek help if you are worried.

Jan, you don't have to worry him. Just calmly explain that your leg hurts when you bend over to pick up things and you really need his help. Being that he is such a good kid, and smart, he will help you. Or try to make it a game - who can pick up the most toys the fastest. And have a prize waiting for the winner. Kids are great at stuff like that.
Hope you get some relief. Mr. Stirly suffered a lot for a long time because he was afraid of the surgery.

Jan, I had some very wise words from a health visitor that visited when my 2 were very little.
She said she'd much rather visit a house that was full of toys and untidness. It means that the mummy is taking time out to play with her child rather than doing the housework and being all clean and pretty for visitors.
