    Tutankhamun has left his pyramid

    Welcome Tut!

Syllogisms aren't my strong point; however, it seems to me that

    a. You miss the mysterious and lovely Helen painfully.
    b. You drink because Helen left.
    c. Helen left because you drink.
    d. If you stop drinking, there's the chance you might earn back her trust. If you don't, there's no chance at all.
(Okay, that last sentence should be "e.", but how many multiple choice questions go a-e?)

My point is, no phyllo--or cab or single-malt--in the world can compensate for the cost of those we love. We're social animals, there's just no way around it (except out, and who wants to go there...).

    Yours in terminal irreverance,

Did you hear about the 2 guys who decided to do what they'd heard Ozzie did for a high, and snorted fire ants? They didn't have time to tell if it worked.

          Hi Pride
          Fantastic post. Thank you.
Irreverance is pointless unless it's terminal. All or nothing, I think. I guess you agree.
You are so right. However, Helen is not that mysterious, but she is lovely. She's pretty simple actually. It's me that isn't.
I drank because I'm like that. I drank more because I had work problems. I blame noone but myself. A bit of inherited drink history, but there you go.
Helen got fed up and went.
          So I drank more.
          She's gone forever. My loss.
          Such is life.
Thank you for your syllogism. A perfect synopsis.
          Onwards and upwards.

            Hi PR
I'm doing OK. I can't resist a dare Tiptronic, so will start my own thread. My son says I should go for it. Be kind to me, this is a weird world for me.

              Tutankhamun has left his pyramid

              Tut,

I've had work problem, medical problem, marriage problems, social problems, and a litany of other associated problems/issues that I lived on a daily basis. The ONLY one inescapable truth is my drinking made them seem insurmountable. They're NOT. What a damn lie. THANKS BOOZE.

I find myself stronger now. I find myself reflecting on the quality of the connects I made while dysfunctional and how shallow those were. Yes, I built a marriage and a career in the synthetic world of alcohol scripting my existence. There is so much better. I do question the better every day, knowing I live on the slippery slope of alcoholism. The joy and pain of life are real. To a drunk, what's real? I've never attended a wedding, birthday, anniversary, or funeral in my adult life without being
              somewhat inebriated.

I am so very young in my sobriety to be giving any advice. However, I do know the destructiveness this disease presents to those associated with us. Again the slippery slope.

I have ruined so many precious relationships. I think perhaps not unlike your Helen's. Just before joining here, while drunk I called the CEO my company. I called home the worst names. I dodged a major bullet as he thought I was half in the bag and pranking him. Well enough, you get my point. The booze has to go!

              Go Tut, recapture your fortune...techie

                Hi technie
                I know.
How much has baclofen helped? Are you taking it? If not, what are you doing? Are you getting help anywhere else?

The only downside to the topamax i've noticed is that the top of my head is looking more like a crotch than what I use to see. Not a GREAT see. Only noticed the hair thinning since taking the med!

How is your day. Way to go on the one glass of wine. What's the plan now? Did you write down a plan or ideas on your walk? Oh, BTW when you walk....do you "walk like an egyptian"....LOL Keep posting....I love your humor!

Techie, I know about the hair loss on Topa. If it is keeping you sober though...hang in there.

                                Tut,
I just hate to see anyone down and out. In particular, I despise seeing educated people ostracized from there area of expertise by bad management or bad personal choices, or even drunkedness.

I work with and support, ostensibly by donations, creative centers in New York City I have a rolodex of credible contacts in the Museum of Natural History, and New York State Archaeological Association.

If you feel strong and confident enough to seek employment let me know via pm. I have done my share of pro bono work for MONH & MOMA to last me a lifetime. They owe me, if I can help you all the better...techie
