I'm probably one of these 'slippers' you are talking about.

I joined in 2008 and have failed on a number of times to control my drinking. I have come and gone from the site for a variety of different reasons that are only my own.

I find comfort in all different types of posts - long term abbers, moderators and 'slippers' like myself (day 3 here again for me). Sometimes it is more comforting to get support from the 'slippers' as i maybe feel they are more like me and know what's its like to keep f'in up. It can be hard to look at some people's sobriety date and not feel in awe, especially those that achieved it straight away. All of us approach things in a diff way, may have joined at diff times in our journey/realisation how bad the prob is, not all of us get it right straight away and may need to come back a few times before we do.

I may have offered support/advice to others but i thought it was the done thing. Maybe i should say nothing until i totally have my act together, which i am hoping is now the start of that time for me. In fact i purposely dont tend to acknowledge newbies as i dont feel i can offer enough advice. However, i do also work in a field where i have successfully offered advice to others in situations where i might not have taken the same advice myself

i only find irritating the posts where people intentionally hurt others and say nasty things.

If people post to genuinely offer support to others then i see no harm in that but that is just my own personal opinion. Otherwise people might just stop posting alltogether and one shoe does not fit all. I am not blasting anyone, just trying to get my own experience across

Sorry for rambling there

With you on the dishwasher, my other half switches it on without putting the tablet in so that you think when its finsihed that they are clean but aren't

Other favs include people leaving rubbish in the sink when the bin is just beside it

People leaving dirty clothes on the floor all over the house is another one, they do of course magically make it to the dishwasher and get washed

OK, children, this is for venting at the rest of the world, not ourselves. Personally, some of the best lessons I've learned are from chronic drunks who refuse to change. Hard ones.
Yes, Neva, a cell phone has an electrical charge, which can ignite the fumes at the gas pump. Many pumps have signs telling you to turn them off.

People on cellphones in line in front of you, trying to juggle everything when the clerk is talking to them. (Some stores have a sign saying "You will not be served if you are using a cell phone!").
People who 'borrow' a family member's Handicapped placard to be able to park in the Handicapped zones.

Bandy, you have tried really really hard at your sobriety, you are genuinely very upset when you slip. That is the difference. You are not flippant about it and you do honestly look for help and try different tools. You have a lot to teach others.

That makes me really really sad....people like that honestly don't deserve to have children.

Amen, MB!! I sat across from a man in court who was angry with ME because I sued him for not paying rent for 5 months OR tell me the bathroom floor was falling in! (I won, now to take him to ANOTHER court to make him pay me!)
Automated political calls at 8 in the morning.
Wrong numbers at 3 AM who then calmly ask you to look up the RIGHT number for them!!
