Ruby dear, I posted on the "Asses in Gear" thread as well about this. Spuds last post was well over an hour ago. I don't think any thoughts or encouragement are going to get through to her right now as she's likely sleeping it off. Her last post made absolutely no sense so I imagine that she logged out and crashed.

Hey, Stirly
I can only look at that picture very longingly... the rain hasn't let up here at all. When I did venture outside just after lunch, the temperature was 10C :-(
Sounds like you had a lovely time, though!
We had a very leisurely morning - kids only woke up around 11.00-ish, and I only got out of bed after 12.00. I started a new book last night, and can hardly put it down
Cubette baked some savoury muffins a bit earlier, so we'll have some of those with tea in a bit. I've a shoulder of lamb slow-roasting in the oven with lots of garlic & rosemary. I think I'll make some fluffy mash to go with it. Plus some really nice veggies, of course.
Oh hell - there I go... talking about food again :HI'll do whatever it takes

KTAB's gonna complain about food porn again. :H:H I was lazy and couldn't be bothered making much more than Stirly's double-cheese bacon burgers and a nice green salad. There's only the two of us so I can get away with something like that once in a while. Mr. Stirly did eat two burgers tho'. He usually only eats one so I guess they were even tastier than usual. Would you believe I use the same recipe for the burgers that my grade one teacher used? She was a family friend as well as our teacher and passed along her secret. She was a lovely woman who, after she retired as a teacher, insisted that us kids alll call her by her first name and quite happily and often, made emphatic use of the word "f*ck". :H:H I never really got used to her using the word. It just went so against the grain of her appearance and her lengthy career as a teacher. She was a hoot, tho' and we all loved her dearly.
What book are you reading? For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.

Mrs. T's book club had much richer pickings this month
I was able to get my hands on Solar by Ian McEwan, and finished The Unicorn Road by Martin Davies just before I started this one.
Your hamburgers sound fabulous. Care to share the recipe? I have some lean steak mince in the fridge I was wondering what to do with...I'll do whatever it takes

Hi all. Good to see you Zennie. Hi-de-ho Mario.
Tips, sorry for not getting back to you. We suddenly decided to go walk the pooch and off we went. The recipe for the burgers is as easy as pie. I use rolled oats for the filler, an egg or two depending on how much minced meat you have. I would use one egg for half a kilo of meat, and about one-half to two-thirds cup of rolled oats. And milk for the liquid. Mix them up adding as much milk as it takes to get the right texture, then let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes til the oats have absorbed the milk and then add a little water to make them a little bit moister. I usually grill them in the oven but you can fry them or BBQ them. The oats and milk combination keeps them from drying out and keeps them fluffy. I don't knead the mixture as some people do I use a whipping motion with a fork to mix it up.
What's up Zenners? For every 60 seconds that you are angry, you lose a minute of happiness.
