Sending strength and prayers to you NC. Remember there is always a birthday, an anniversary, a big party, a wedding, a wake, a whatever coming up. Always. Life goes on. There's also a first time to attend these things sober. No time like the present to start.

Think of how you might remember your anniversary. A nice dinner and evening with your husband. Of course it will be a little different if you've never done it sober. Is your husband supportive of your AF goals? If so, tell him how grateful you are for that. Be grateful. Say a prayer of gratitude. Say a prayer for sobriety. Think of Jesus holding out his hand and walking you through it. Think of it as a celebration of starting a new chapter in life together. Of a better, healthier future because you are committed to an AF life.

Think of another way you might remember your anniversary. Maybe you won't - or wish you didn't. That has a way of happening with us alkies. I had more than a few romantically envisioned dates that ended instead in fights, rage, tears, and burned bridges. A couple glasses of wine? Are you serious? Ask yourself if you were able to do that before. Ask yourself why did you think it was a good idea to go 100 days AF? If we could stop and start we wouldn't need to try and be AF for any amount of time. It's the addiction talking and it is a lie.

I wish you strength and prayers - you can do it, you really can. Believe. Love to you. :h :l

well i got through my temptation last night and feel fantastic this morning, so much so i had to post a new thread on the subject. NC i hope you made it too. if not i hope you have the strength to get back on board

I'm still on track - just - had a hard 2 days and having to dig deep to get through the weekend but got my grandchildren here at the moment and think I might just kidnap them for this evening If not its back to the carbs and a few more pounds :H:H
Thats if I have a house left... there making a den in the lounge at the moment with chairs, brooms, mops and sleeping bags - oh the joys of being young again and knowing what we now!!

Day 5 for me..got through last night with the aid of L-Glut and a stick (which i actually did have to bite down on at times..not messing) but i feel so much better for it today!

Don't know if I made the right decision, really. I did drink last night but not much. A light vodka cocktail on the way to the restaurant, two glasses of wine with dinner and a B&B for dessert. It was a wonderful evening with my husband but I don't think the drinking helped or hurt one way or the other. So I guess it was probably the wrong decision as 100 days AF sounds so much better than 95 days AF.
Think I'd better get serious about my "plans".....what to do when my mind starts moving in the direction of wanting, planning, taking a drink. Still pretty vulnerable I guess. Thank you all for your continueed support; don't give up on me. Spudders, I am so so so proud of you, you precious thing! I read how you were struggling and now to find out you had victory........wow! You are my inspiration!

hey there new creation .. in life there are things we want and on this path there are many ways it can go you can play cat and mouse you can go left and right but you have to choose your path and along the way there are always little bumps we must get past ... so keep learning and stay on your guard ... and awesome job spuddle ...keep it going bandit nicely done

Hi, NC. I'm back from my mini-vacation and so glad to see you doing well. You are important to all of us. Spuddles - I'm really happy that you didn't give in to the temptation....I know it is really hard sometimes....but the outcome is so worth it, isn't it? Panno, Bandit, Bungle....glad to see you guys here too. Thanksgiving is just around the corner (even though I don't want summer to end)...and we're all here together for this journey!!

I'm FINALLY home! I'm completely exhausted, but I DID IT, I DID IT, my first trip back home that I stayed sober! I'm 7 days AF! I had a great time, but haven't slept much in the last 2 days so I'm going to bed. I can't wait to catch up and see what all has been going on with everyone! Love ya, Vicki

hi all. start of another sober week. 100 days is just around the corner. im having a great time with my new puppy.... taking my mind away from any thoughts of drinking.

I missed all of you so much! I am amazed at all the encouragers we have! Grateful, Tlrgs, Ruby and Dancelot (what an amazing post!) and all you others, thank you for lifting us up when we need encouragement and strength to get through one day at a time! New Creation, don't beat yourself up or feel like a failure! We are all trying to stay sober, but if you slip, just get right back up and make your goal "trying to stay sober until Thanksgiving"! We all love you so much, girl! Spuds, so happy about your new job and puppy, great ways to stay busy and not drink! Way to go, Miss Behaving! We should all avoid every temptation that we can until we get stronger! Not going shopping to avoid the temptation of buying alcohol is a great example. Bungle and Grangelady, welcome! We will help you on your journey to get and stay sober. Don't be afraid to commit! If you do fail, we will be there to pick you up and help you start again. We can learn alot from our struggles and failures, if we don't learn from our mistakes, we are sure to repreat them!
