Army Thread 17th August
Hi Betty,
Count me in!
Starting-you must be in shock! I would be, too. Thank you for asking about my mum. She is 83 and has the most positive attitude of anyone I've ever known. But, she's had a couple of other surgeries since she went through chemotherapy (2008) and now she just says, "I'm ready to go anytime." You know, Starting, she's tired of fighting, too. She is a devout Christian and she just wants to go to heaven to be with her parents, sisters and my dad and brother. When she started talking like that, I would just get so upset and talk about having the urge to just jump into a bottle of Scotch, which is exactly what I did when she was diagnosed with cancer. I was filled with so much sadness and anger, because her doctor MISSED her tumor a year before so she was Stage 3 by the time she had surgery in December, 2007. Now, I just have to accept that is her decision and drinking will only make things worse because I have to be strong for her and for myself....as I am prepared to move in with her and take care of her.
I'm lighting candles for you and your mum right now, Starting....for good luck, comfort and strength.
