IAD, I agree with you and I also understand where Neva Eva is coming from. Recently when the topic of religion kept coming up, I simply asked if we could do what has worked so well for MWO in the past, and that is to leave religion out of the disucssion as many of us have different beliefs. If we open that door, it always gets ugly!

As neve eva mentioned, A lively "discussion" on either topic would be great......"I love both topics!", however, as we have seen, it just doesn't work very well here!

Children, children, back to your cubbies. I steadfastly REFUSE to debate religion or politics. I have my beliefs, and they are MINE. I'm a bit weird, in a lot of ways. Scare the crap outta Hubs sometimes. But something must work; after 40 years I STILL can't get rid of him. (the pillow over the face didn't work) As you all know, opinions are like a**holes; everyone has one and think everyone else's stink. No one can change anyone else's mind on what they believe, and I for one don't want to. Let's all just let it go, and not cause any hard feelings. I care and respect all posting, just understand there are different ideas at play. OK?? Now, play nice, please.

I truly welcome discussion. It's accusation, incrimination, I don't like. So I shall henceforth go away silently, after I say I'm the most passionate America loving, South loving, flag waving, dyed in the wool conservative I have ever been. I read a LOT, get involved in causes constantly, hate hypocrisy, love the great men that the birth of our Nation thrust into their greatest element, though they were sometimes flawed, and didn't relish the limelight. This has nothing to do with anything, but it's my stand, and I ain't gonna argue it or budge. On that note, I'll leave ya'll to it.

Good Morning all,

It's 7:24 am Minnesota and the coffee is starting to gurgle. Being very new here (first week), I'm still feeling my way around what's applicable here or not. I didn't bring up the Beck Rally to be stir a pot, but because I watched it and was moved by parts of it. Full diclosure...I'm 44, Reagan was my first vote, first College Grad. in my family, former Marine and Gulf War Vet. I've been raising my kids since my divorce 8 odd years ago.

I came here for the obvious reason, alcohol. Gonna beat it. But I wasn't sure if other topics were off limits and didn't think they were. I want to think, and I think I'm right, that this place will always be at it's core about recovery. However, as I intend to be here everyday for however long and would like to talk about other topics as well. I also get bored with polarizing political talk. Most of us won't change our mind so why work so hard to change someone elses, but a polite free flow of information is one of our most cherished rights.

So. love you all. Didn't mean to rile anyone up, just want to keep it interesting. Also, if you've never been an election judge, consider it. Was tons of fun and just another way to serve.

I'm great. Thanks for asking and hope you are too. I knew I needed an avatar (my first) and as my kids and I are HUGE family guy fans...googled FG avatars. This was on there and when I saw it thought......THAT'S IT!. I showed it to my daughter and she started rolling laughing so I knew I was onto something. I also loved the movie, but hadn't thought about it for years.
