Grate, we X'd. What you said is something I've alluded to several times. This is someone's only place to find a haven. Sometimes it's mine, sometimes it's yours.
I'm so glad you opened up, and shared your feelings. If there IS a place, this is it. No, we don't want to whine and complain all the time, but there is a difference between that and sharing, which is what you did, and everyone needs to do that sometimes.
Something I notice about you, and others here, is that you take accountability for yourself. That's a big strong attribute, since so many today shift blame. But don't YOU take on others mistake. One of the hardest things I learned was to not blame myself for others choices.

well I never could drink and play. A rule I made up early on. guess we all have some rules. will be loaded down with camping gear rubes but have plenty of video and cd look on my fb for the kids vids. will probably have sticks and practice pad though might bring my herb drum to show off it came out nice haha. have fun at bday t i know it sux, think your roosters would fight grateful we had 2 once and they fought all the time, kids up think we go down to tallahassee need sticks and music store here no good..

Bird, we'll ad lib. And I have tons of stuff, so before you bring the kitchen sink, check with me, OK? I'm happy to share. You don't need plates, utensils, maybe pots. We can buy 50 cheap hose pipes and you can have running water! :H

Morning all - Biz, be careful with that undertow!! Bird - good for you taking that Antabuse - that must have really taken strength on your part!! I am SO proud of you. I make draperies for an interior designer as a second job (although haven't done any in a while due to the times)and would never allow myself to cut fabric if I had had a drink - it would cost ME if I cut wrong and sometimes those fabrics could be upwards of $100 a yard! And I might have 18 yds on my table!! Yikes!!

Grateful - lovely post as always. You are getting so chatty these days LOL. So sorry about your brother - that must have been hard for all of you, but you can't live other peoples lives for them. And you can't feel guilt for what others do - you have to let that go - there was nothing you could do if that is what was meant to happen and you feeling that guilt will not change anything except affect your life NOW, so please try and let it go. It doesn't do your soul any good.

As for this weekend - I work today, am off tomorrow (my usual day off), then work Monday. The weather is supposed to be lovely so i think we will be really quiet. Anyway need to get some stuff done before going into work at 2.00. Have a wonderful day everyone,

OK.. a very contrite Mama here.....Ruby sent me a wonderful PM with all the tough love I need...You are all so right...I cannot confide in my husband that I was drinking and that's why I had a headache and skipped son's game.......but I can tell you!! Thats why you are all so precious to me.....I have to got find other ways to deal with the stress and anxiety that is going on in my life right now. And with your help...I will.....

Finished more work inside/outside rental. Have another to start on as soon as this is done.
I stopped at a total of 3 yard sales (out of 100's!!) and have made some VERY good buys. On my way home, stopped by one and bought an antique, framed, tinted portrait, with bubble glass on it. A young man, sitting on a log, with such a wistful, heartbreaking look on his face. The frame is ornate gold leaf, about a 8 x 10 oval, and the only thing wrong with it is the stand from the back is missing. Talked them down to only $20.00, and it's at least 100 years old. Very happy with it.
As if you didn't know, I treasure the past, maybe because of my memories. I have daugerrotypes of my ancestors, and it's really amazing. These are the people responsible for me being here. And I don't think anyone should be forgotten.
Sunny, I certainly understand about the fabric. I made a formal once for my daughter from a tapestry-like fabric, and I hand beaded the top. She was so tiny, in so many formal-type situations, and I LOVED doing it. I quit sewing and started drinking. Ughhh. Everyone would ask where she got her gowns, like the gorgeous white satin antebellum with handmade roses, beaded lace bodice, hoop skirt, and PANTALOONS I made for her to conduct tours during a tour of historic homes. The home owner said she had more pictures made of her than any other place on the property!! I side-swept her long, blonde hair into a ponytail, covered the fastener with white silk flowers, and made long ringlets that hung to her shoulder, and she wore white hose under the pantaloons and hoop, with pale pink ballet slippers. She said a Japanese family followed her around, snapping every move she made. She was 16.
I SO miss those days. She was like my own living Barbie doll. When she graduated and moved out, I began to drink in earnest. I made the angelic little flower girl dresses and baby's breath hair wreaths when she married, but not much more since.
My point is we have such great memories, such wasted talent, time, because of AL. ALL of us. Please don't lose another day, friends. For me, I have more important things to do with my life.

PS: The white gown was worn several times, by daughter and neices. The highest praise was when my Momma saw it, and said 'You've really outdone yourself. This is special.' Tay wants me to make her one, and I promised to, when she gets married.

I'M BACK! I read the last 12 pages and sounds like everyone has been going through alot of rough things. Life is certainly not easy! Rog, hope your networking and other ideas are beginning to pay off. Sunny, don't know what happened to Mags, but I do hope she is better and I especially hope you are doing better. MB, how is your son doing now? Neart, it is so nice to meet you. Nora C, good to see you back with us. Grateful, all your posts are inspiring. Biz, sounds like you're doing good. Tony, thanks for keeping the thread alive! Ruby, I hope you have a wonderful time at the cabin with hubs! Bird, just keep on it one day at a time. Anyone else I missed...I love you and hope you are doing well.
I had an absolute wonderful visit with my parents. They only stayed one night and then I started coming down with a sinus infection and did not feel good. Paul and I had the worst fight ever and I was imagining my life without him feeling like I was completely miserable being married to him, mainly because of his drinking. We had to deal with something that I did not want to believe because I still thought the best of these people. When we left our old house years ago, we left the house for the kids to live in it. After a year or two, they moved out and we put it up for sale (3 acreas 3000 sq ft house that is falling apart but right in the center of town and commercial property all around it) Not one single person looked at it in a year, so we decided to rent. Fixed it all up and met a real nice couple who wanted to buy it. In fact they were going to rent it for 6 mos. and then do a big job in CA during June and July and then we were going to over finance it. They paid the $600. rent for 3 months, but was past due 3 months and I thought because they were working so hard in CA. Turned out they cut down every tree on the property and sold the timber but left all the garbage limbs and pines, the house was completely thrashed and the city had called and given us 7 days to get it clleaned up or there was going to be a $2500. fine. Anyway, we headed off to Jxn and we cleaned non stop for the last 3 days and i am completely exhauseted. I drank half a bottle of wine the night hubby and I fault and the other haldf when I got home today because everything in me hurts. I'm cut up, bruised up, beat up and everything else. So I'm thingking this cheap wine does not even get me drunk! I wish I had me some vodka! Then I talked to NC and she said something that really changed my mind. Alcohol robs me of feeling the joy I was feeling about life. So here I am back again, wanting to give completely up but knowing I have to keep fighting this demon even if it has the upper hand on me at the moment, it will NOT destroy me! I love you all.
