Evening, all. Sorry I haven't been on for a few days....but I have a quick minute to check in while my granddaughter is being entertained by my niece & nephew.....so much has been happening here.....welcome back, Vicki. Hope you were able to relax today and I am sorry about the letter you received....I know that going to Church tomorrow will help lift your spirits, so that is something to look forward to. I got Addy Thursday night because she hasn't been sleeping well for my daughter, so since I am not working on Fridays now, I kept her...she isn't feeling well - so she has needed lots of attention! I'm not sure if she is staying tonight or not...haven't heard from my daughter yet....anyway, I am around, guys, and trying to keep my head up. Oh, no, I have to run again...I hear my hubby coming & he doesn't really like me on here too much..

All right explain to me> I have not had a flu shot in 25 years and when I did I was never so sick in my life. So why does my wife and kids get the flu mist and they are all in bed sick as dogs almost did not make it through church let alone dinner. I don't get it never had the flu knock on wood ever my PD says he never get the shot or the mist. I think it is a crock TG I work outside 365. My wife has to get it or she will loose her job at CHOP and that sucks as she is in bed dieing tonight. Well enough of complaing. I started getting a flu shot about 5-6 years ago, then 2 years ago had the pneumonia shot, which I may never have to repeat. Before that, I'd had a lot of bouts with the flu, 2 in 80's and 90's, that nearly killed me (no exaggeration). Before the pneu shot, I'd had that and bronchitis several times a year, which actually caused me to break ribs from coughing. So, for me, they've been a life-saver. Hubs has them every year, but he's never sick any way. Made son get both his, since he's prone to URI's. Daughter and SIL get them, because they work with sick people.
So, that's just us. I'd certainly report your reactions, Biz, to the people who gave them to you, or even the CDC. Seems not usual to me, really. Hope you all feel better soon, but I know for me they're great. The flu I had in the 80's killed 5 people I knew. And I guess I'm just more susceptible to it. But it's been so wonderful to be healthy flu-wise for all the years I've been taking it, but most ESPECIALLY since I took the pneumonia shot.
Anyway, sorry to go on so much about me. Just wanted to share my experience. Especially for small people, getting a bad, REAL (lots of people say they have the flu when they have a virus, etc.) flu causes tremendous weight loss, weakness. So, again, I hope ya'll get much better soon, and it keeps you from getting sick later.

BIZ! They are wonderful - thank you SO much - we have a load of thunder and lightening outside right now and I am going to sit on the step with Maggie! She isn't as keen on storms as I am - but she will stay with me - leaning as close to me as she can get!! Just got in from work - almost 11.00. Thank you for thinking of me - As you know, I LOVE the storms!

I had the flu for the first time EVER the first year I worked in retail - until then I could never understand why folk complained about it - I thought I was going to DIE. then the following year, I got the flu shot - and was in bed for three days! Haven't had it since and haven't had the flu since. That was about 15 years ago. Biz, I am sorry that your family is sick with it.

Grateful - lovely to see you post again - you are very special here you know! Nice for you that your have Addie too.

Nora - nice to see you here - and lovely to chat too - I did enjoy our talk!! You make me laugh! I talked to MB and she agrees with us!

Tony - glad that you are enjoying the football - I just have to accept that I do not understand the attraction for it and go forwards!

Vicki - enjoy your church tomorrow morning and I too, hope that it makes you feel better. We love you!

ruby - you have been busy as always - I am not a hoarder at all - Hubs is. I have nothing that isn't useful, or extremely sentimental (and not a lot of that), or I just really really like! Hubs can't believe how I just have nothing!! good for you re the clearing out.

Going to go and enjoy the lightening now - it isn't raining yet and it might miss us but I want to enjoy it while I can!

Oh my goodness - I am scared that I am one of those hoarders. Let's not discuss that right now. When my parents moved after living in their home after 45 years, I ended up bringing a lot of stuff over to my house. Sentimental things......that are still sitting in my garage. Now tell me.....how sentimental can they be if they are still in boxes in my garage??? That is one of the issues that I am working on right now. Or will be........
I've been getting the flu shot every year for the past 10 years or so. They offer them at work and I just go ahead & get one. My husband is disabled and gets sick every year so I always get one. My parents always get one. My Dad has had pneumonia and also had that shot like Ruby.
Sun - I loved talking to you too! I called my pharmacy again today!!! They are contacting my Doctor because they said that they still haven't received the prescription. :upset: I will call my Doctor on Monday. Dang it. I just want to get started.
I'm going to get back to my classwork. I have neighbors fighting right now. What a pain. At least I'm a happy drunk, when I drink. :H:H:H:H Shouldn't have said that, neighborhood got very quiet after that. I wonder where they went????

Hey all. Been up a while, just lazing around. Hubs worked late and I pampered him with a hot turkey pot pie, green salad, and a big piece of hot peach pie with whipped cream. He purred when he finished like a cat, for the 5 minutes before he was asleep! Poor thing, and he has no clue about the list of 'honey-do's' I'm making for him as I work clearing the house. Have decided to strip the wallpaper from the main hall, no little feat since it's 11'x20', has 12' ceilings, continues up the stairs and in to the upstairs hall. Then I want to prime and paint the panelled wainscoat, and replace the carpet runner on the stairs. I haven't even STARTED on the great room or the upstairs bedrooms! But after a decade of cleaning and repairing rental houses for others, it's MY turn. Then on to the outside, painting, landscaping. How NICE it would be to have just one house to focus on.
It's so hot and dry here again, but not humid, at least. Leaves are really starting to turn, some falling already. Welcome the cooler weather, maybe not the frigid weather though. Last winter was brutal, so don't know what to expect this year. As soon as things cool down, I going to really begin searching for my new Rottie pup. My gift to me.
Sunny, sounds lovely sitting out to watch the storm. I love them too, especially watching from the cabin windows. Nora, I haven't really had neighbors for decades; don't know if I could take it. Love my privacy.

Oh Ruby - that sounds like me - it is years since we decorated our house and when my brother was visiting, he redid the up bathroom for me - and I have just started going from room to room since. But as Hubs doesn't help at all, it is slow going (he yells at me for going up the ladder though!!). That sounds an extremely daunting task re the wall paper that goes up the stairs!! Painting up the stairs was hard enough. I like wallpapering though.

The storm is still going on here - looks like being an all day thing. It is only about 68 degrees out too. I have been up three hours and all I have done is to phone my mum and be on the computer! I really must go and DO something. Today's list of things to do is all boring stuff so I suppose I am procrastinating. Waiting to hear from BOB too(my brother) - he is a loss adjuster/surveyor and has just flown to Bermuda to wait for the Hurricane! Funny really - he was living there until about a year ago - and now ends up being back there for this!

Anyway I need to MOVE!!! DO something. GO! Get Moving!

Hi all
I doing lousy with a hangover today, I off antabuse cuz of all the dr appts and gall bladder, was in store thinking hey I can drink Im off antabuse and imagining how fun it would be but wasnt really and kinda boring was just sitting around watching movie with kids and couldnt do much else like anything requireing brain. So then woke up feeling bad and thinking of everything t is always saying and know I have a choice hey I dont have to do this. Seems I always think yeah I do have to do it, like some alien is hoding a gun to my head or something or my genetics or anything. Hell, I make other choices and why should this be any different. Why in the hell would I choose to feel like this anyway? This is crazy just plain crazy...

Oh Bird - beating yourself up isn't going to help - and why do we do it? No, no-one is holding a gun to our heads, but when you are not on the Ant., that demon AL is there just waiting for the chance to get you to drink! It is an addiction! We all know it is hard! I do feel for you, feeling so bad. Hang in there flower - you will feel better, and like the others say, remember how you are feeling now and then next time maybe you might think twice about if it is worth it. Hugs to you dear bird,

I like the saying, Bird, 'The definition of insanity is repeating the same mistake and expecting a different outcome.' I have tremendous respect for you, doing all the things you do for your home, giving your kids such a great musical background, encouraging their dreams. I can only imagine how tough it is for you sometimes. But each persons life has it's on difficulties, depending on their situation. I found as time goes by that is wonderful not to covet what someone else has. It bothers me that people look at my situation and think I'm ungrateful, have not reason to drink, complain. None of us have the same difficulties, but every life has them, and how we handle them is personal. I've watched you evolve, Mel, and you're getting to the place where things will click for you in understanding, OK? Things are hard for you right now, but you'll get through. You always do, because of your strength.
