I'd forgotten about the gas jokes for a while...I'd thought we'd pretty well covered every angle on that subject. Now hairs, there's a subject that lends itself to a never ending array of creative ideas.
Nora, as bad as the diet coke is for me, I've still decided to keep some in the fridge for treats. I've been drinking litres of water every day so figure a little bit of brain rot and stomach rot (and teeth rot) can't hurt. When I think about what I put my poor body and brain through with AL, one glass of diet coke that releases happy endorphines a day can't be too unhealthy.
I spent four hours in Mother's garden yesterday afternoon after a scrumptions roast duck with sage and onion stuffing and orange gravy lunch, with vegies of course. Mother has been 'fancying' duck for a while so we went for it. Then I was outside with my power tools and tidied it all up for her. I showed her all the pictures of my wall in progress and she was suitably impressed and 'very proud' of me. This site and becoming AF has turned our sometimes uncomfortable relationship into one we've both been wanting but couldn't find. She's just been diagnosed with bladder cancer, and is having surgery in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, all will go well with that.
Panno, nice to see you dropping in...heard anything from Pompeyman? If you do, tell him I'm still thinking of him and hope he's doing well.
Fen, all this snow talk reminds me that we're in the last month of Summer here and that it's a long way off until the next one comes around. We don't get snow here, but I'm really not a Winter person at all. I have a special account for my gas bill (not petrol kind) into which I deposit $25 a week...it pretty much covers most of my heating bill over the winter months. Okay, so my house is like the tropics when all around me are freezing, but it's well and truly worth it. I'm miserable when cold so I figure why not?
Maybe I'll set up an indoor vegie garden and grow exotic orchids to sell from the truck...I can send them express in parcels tied up with hair.

Ah, the shower trap. I was at Mother's yesterday and should have nipped up and cleaned out Brooke's shower. She has thick hair like I have but sheds heaps in the shower...I wonder that she has so much left on her head...but seeing as she's pretty slack about cleaning the bathroom, it will still be there next time I go there with subsequent fallings as well. It's a beautiful soft auburn colour, too. I'll ship some over to you and see what you can come up with...I'm on my fourth feedbag at the moment and I've baled up the rest in the corner for winter craft sessions.

Ah, yes, the shower trap! I was at my Mum's yesterday and should have nipped upstairs to Brooke's bathroom and collected some. Like me she has very thick hair, but she sheds like mad in the shower. Beautiful, soft auburn ones ideal for craftwork. I'll grab some next time I'm there and put them away for the wintery months and do something very special with them...I'll clean out her hairbrush, too. Great thinking, RC.
I love orchids, too. I used to grow them but it's been some years now and I'm feeling the urge to grow them again. My Mum used to grow slipper orchids and sell them to a florist and made some very nice pin money with them. Native orchids might fetch a good price for the truck if I ship them over, carefully wrapped in hair and celophane. Yep, good thinking!

Funny orchids should come up!! Today, I bought my Valentine's gift from Hubs (dang, forgot to tell him!!) Two gallon pots of the most beautiful cymbidium orchids I've ever seen. About 3 feet tall, with tons of lush foliage and 4-5 budding flower shoots. He is fantastic at surprising me with gifts, but always says if I see it and want it, save him some trouble!! :H I'll post pics when they bloom out. (PS: He HATES house plants, so this move was necessary for me!! I'll go target shooting with him tomorrow and he'll be a happy camper.

Meet Me At Dos Gatos

It's easy, Sun ...just slice up some leeks and kale - I prefer lacinato kale (remove the center rib from kale), saute in olive oil until the kale is cooked, and add beaten eggs (with a tad of milk) and scramble away. I keep the eggs a little separate from the kale /leeks. I threw some chevre into it as well. Yummers!
