I do the same as DG. In Peter Holford's book "How to quit without feeling shit" he recommends L-GLUT for both AL and sugar cravings.
Another thing I found really helped me was to go on a low GI diet to keep my sugar levels constant. It is actually quite easy to adjust your normal recipes by adding certain ingredients to lower the GI of a meal. E.G adding a cup of oats or lentils to your stews, mince, pies etc lowers the GI drastically.
Did you know that they put SUGAR in cigarettes to make you addicted to them!! When I quit smoking I really battled with my sugar cravings and this is one of the biggest causes of why people put on weight after quitting."The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it"
