Yeah but if you had help financially you'd probably still drink it..........I've been drunk and skint, drunk and comfy, and drunk and well-off with peeps helping or not helping accordingly. Nothing changed. Having money sometimes has been a curse that made it worse.

Ah, Seethepony, I totally understand your attraction to the eccentric millionaires...seriously.
I am living in a home (not house) for which I pay no rent, wearing jewellry with 'no strings attached' and having to continuously knock back offers of marriage to a dear, sweet man who wants to improve my 'health' by taking me away from it all and take me on world cruises in balcony suites of top cruise lines. Problem being????????
He is an enabler. I have to choose between sobriety and the illusion of wealth and security in this crazy system of things. Although not of my faith, he has shown himself ready and willing to learn and has made real progress...but he doesn't get it that I can't drink. And so I have to insist that I cannot marry and let him 'love me from afar' in South Oz.
I prefer the life I have to the one he offers, thanks to my faith in the Bible's promise of what we all desire..."no more suffering nor outcry or pain...the former things have passed away."
He is so understanding of my situation...what a fine man...and yet, compared with sobriety all of this is as nothing...
my ex-husband of 15 years whom I loved, who loved me, and was formally of my faith re-marries tomorrow...and yet, I have no regrets because I have to come first now...

Hey Pompey,

I was 49 when i made the best choice to get off the grog. Almost 2 yrs later, i'm a very different, and very happy fella. Do whatever it takes friend. We must put our sobriety journey at number 1. Right Upfront ahead of EVERYTHING, for us to have a good chance, and be ruthless in protecting it.
Are you still going to re-hab?

thanks mish ....... twenty eighth of october i will be forty nine there is no way i want to be like this when i am 50 ........ those 2 .... 3! numbers still work!!!! wil have to switch to Panno's beautiful gift soon ...... just familiarity thing ...... i think most of addicts have that Pavlovs dog syndrome ..... have a good day down there in Oz and any of you anywhere else ...... by the way not sure ive said this b4 ....... another number still works !!! ....... the sis who now ignores me lives in NZ x
