I don't know if you've seen it but there's a book called Living Sober from AA. Even if you're not an AAer it really helps.Honest.


I'll have a look round for some more Christmas sweaters, Nora & MB but you'll prolly have to wait til 2016

Yep, it was so dank and dull we had the lamps on all day and the rain thundered off the conservatory roof. We were going to go out and about but just gave up and stuck the heating on.

Delighted to read your recent posts and so pleased that you have made it this far - isn't that wonderful and especially as you haven't had the horrendous withdrawals you have had before. I haven't posted much to you but do read your thread everytime I log on to check in on you. This time does seem different and it bodes well for your future - odat. You have a huge amount of support here so tap into it as aften as you need.

I'm just so happy for you and remember your 'Recovery Time'.

:thumbsup spent the day helping to paint a pensioners flat ....... made me feel really useful .... helped him get his curtains down ..... hadnt been washed for over 4 years turns out he was scared to do it himself in case he fell and no one found him ....... hes scared of halloween already due to kids trick or treating :upset: ....... chatted to him about it ...... i would NEVER had done this if i had been drinking ...... made me even more determined to keep AF ....... CPN meeting tom will post about what happens ........ have a good evening everyone PM x :h

Good for you PM. Drinking was a very self centered activity for me. I couldn't think about anyone's needs but my own for many years. I actually tried a volunteer stint while I was still acitve in my alcoholism, and it just didn't work out. Drinking was too important to me. (an amend I had to make...) Anyway, I do volunteer work now and take great joy in the giving. It sounds like you will find a lot of joy in that sort of thing too. A wonderful aspect of sobriety. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

Just finished reading this thread. What an inspiring journey. You did great, so great, really really great. Please keep up the good work and helping your neighbour was inspiring. That is your pathway to a better life. Find lots of people to help, it feeds the soul leaving your feeling full and satisfied. Love it!

:goodluck: hi H I see you say you are just starting out again .......... for me its all part of the same journey ..... so I dont see you as "starting again" you are just taking up where you left off ........ I dont know what your previous history of AF time is but maybe you can use those experiences to support you resume the path away from this awful addictive behaviour ......... the previous AF times were not wasted ......... take care PM x :wd:
