I have a wedding to go to on the 9th (my co-worker) and everyone is already talking about how much they're going to drink. I am actually looking forward to sitting back and watching them make fools of themselves. LOL I plan to take my small iPod and catch them on video. :H
Well here we go, a fresh month and a chance to make a new start. For anyone struggling, please keep checking in, we're here to support you.

Ok, it's Friday and I'm still on the mend from my bike mishap. Getting a bit of cabin fever. Thinking I may take a few more days off next week. I get the thread out of my head on Tuesday. Just finished Follett's new book Fall of Giants. It was a great read, but now the wait for the second book in the trilogy. Will post a critique on the reading thread.

I hope everyone has a wonderful & sober weekend. Stay strong my friends!

That's awesome Pride, that is what's getting me through..no more hangovers...I am really started to be able to be alone again. I went through some real tough stress the past three years and drank to forget. Now that I am not drinking the negative thoughts aren't all consuming. LOVE IT.....

Happy Hangover Free Saturday - weekends are really weekends again....

                    Happy Saturday all!
I'm off to the beach tomorrow for a few days...just a friend and I. She is a teetotaler so that will not be a problem!
I do have an issue that I have to deal with here most of the time.
Hubby makes about 5o gallons of homemade wine every year.
He drinks beer almost every afternoon so I try to find something to do to avoid being near. (
I have to do it for myself though.
I live in a very isolated place and my car was in the shop this last week. It was a rough week and I did drink on Wed. I didn't realize how depressed I was about it until yesterday when I picked up the car and set out to do a little shopping. I actually felt the fog lift as I drove.
People ...don't isolate yourselves. It's not a good thing. I usually go to the gym 3-4 days a week but couldn't go this week.
                    Take care and stay sober.
I'll see you in a few days!
                    xoxo

Hi Kota you certainly can join in. The idea between this thread is that you're are committing to an "alcohol free" October. It is just a motivational tool that's all. So welcome!

                          Thought For Day 3

                          Where confidence comes from
Where your confidence comes from is not really that important. What matters is where your confidence can take you.
Perhaps your confidence is based on your past experiences, or perhaps it is not. Perhaps you are confident in yourself just because you have chosen to be.

Confidence is not about what has already happened. Confidence is about moving forward and creating the best of what can be.

Even though you have no logical reason to be, you can still be genuinely confident about what you intend to do. Confidence is an attitude you choose, not an evaluation of what you've already been through.

Ultimately, confidence does not come from who you know or where you've been or what you've done. It comes from your choice to do what you know you must.

Confidence can be yours no matter what. Choose it and use it to follow your dreams.

Hi Kota! I hope you will post with us during October!

Hi everyone! Late to the party but I'm in!! Techie, thanks for getting us started for the month with such an awesome title for the challenge! I also love the motivational messages you have posted. Staying in the here and now is something I rarely did when drinking. I was either full of emotion (guilt, remorse, resentment, etc.) over past events, or full of worry, anger, etc. about stuff I was SURE was going to happen in the future. What a waste of emotional energy! I really try hard today to stay right here, right now.

Southernbelle, boy do I hear you on isolation. Not a good place for me either. I'm glad to hear your car is fixed!

It's an AF day here for sure.
