We played conkers too, PM, but I grew up in New England. Funny the game lasted over here, at least well into the 70s. I hadn't thought of that in YEARS. They were, literally, tough nuts to crack. We called the tree a horse chestnut, but we called the nuts conkers.

they're called horse chestnuts because if you snap off a newly growing twig in the spring it leaves a scar on the tree shaped like a horseshoe even with little nails !!!!! Funny how stupid bits of knowledge/memories start to come back and I'm only 4 days in PM
I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round .... really love to watch them roll .... no longer riding on the merry-go-round ...... I just had to let it go

morning all, Monday here is Aus, day 4 for me and going strong. Loved your thoughts for the day Tech, they resonate strongly with me. Fantastic work everyone! I would like to add a variation of song written for Aussies that I think would be nice for us on MWO to think about, here goes: Sorry about the B Flat singing: We are one, and we are many, and from far away lands we come, we stand up tall and since with one voice, I am, you are, we are sober and joyful.......

Quick check in. Another wonderful and busy AF day here! PM, it's fabulous to see you on this thread! Techie, thanks for another inspirational message. You are right that everything gets done one step at a time. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. (I would be SO sick of elephant by the time it was gone!) OK - I'm a little goofy right now.

Hello to one and all OctSOBERers. Hope you have all had a terrific weekend. Nighty night!

Hi Folks - I'm a latecomer to this thread but I've been lurking in the background. It's great to see and hear all the enthusiasm here!

This resonates very well with me, Techie. When confronted with BIG issues/goals, it is easy for me to feel overwhelmed and frustrated. I have been able to use this approach (breaking the big goals into smaller components) very successfully both at work and in my personal life. It has been a lifesaver for me!

Having a big craving here ......

Mr B is away for a few days and I'm having "who would know if I had a bottle of wine?" thoughts.

Maybe when my pandang chicken is cooked (10 mins to go ....) and I've eaten I'll feel a bit better ....

Yea,craving starts knocking us when we loose support and remain alone so please not feel alone and be here, together we definitely beat it.

                              Yep Missy B,

Fill your belly up and maybe do a cost/benefit analysis on the impact of that bottle of wine......jump into a nice bubble bath....sip some lemon water and really focus on why you want to stay al free. Stay on the boards if need be....delay, delay delay...sending you strength and hugs:l
