    WTG, Guy!

I'm taking the day off to take care of myself and focus on sobriety today. Haven't done that, even once, since quitting AL back in July. This will involve reading, writing, posting here, exercise, and best of all--a nap. Unplugged the phone, even.

Miss B, my last blackout was when my fiance was off on a business trip. I TOTALLY get where you're coming from. Want to join me in a day focused on what we want our AF lives to look like, and how we get there (and stay there)? xoxox Pride
AF since July 15, 2010. :applouse:

        Thought For Day 5

        A day to savor
This is a day to savor, and now is your opportunity to do so. It has not come before and it will not come again, so this is the moment to live it.
Today has its own unique treasures to offer. Accept them, enjoy them, live them and learn from them while they are here.

This day is not just some abstract concept or number on a calendar. It is a one-of-a-kind living experience in which you are immersed right now.

This day may not be perfect, and yet it is immensely better than no day at all. By living it with enthusiasm and positive expectation, you can make this day the best one yet.

Go ahead and do what you've always wanted to do. Go ahead and feel the joy, go ahead and live the fulfillment, go ahead and be the authentic and beautiful you.

This is your day to savor, to appreciate, and to fill with rich, meaningful experience. Live it, love it and let it be one you never forget.

It's a gloomy evening here in my area, made even worse by the passing a members mother. Startingover's mom passed away late today after a long illness. Our prayers and thoughts go out to Starts and her family.

Whenever someone close to me passes I am always reminded of a quote by Norman Cousins. I think it is appropriate to post it here as it has a special significance to me. I would like to share it with you...

Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.

            Morning all,

Fantastic day down here at the bottom of the world. Thanks for the beautiful thoughts for the day Techstar, it is truly an inspiration to log in every morning and read these positives notes...way to go! Starty losing her mum today makes me even more determined to spend as much time with my own mum, who has for ten years been with me through thick and thin. I hope and pray that I can do justice to her efforts and kick this addiction once and for all. I am blessed to have my whole family on my side and willing to help me whenever I ask, as I know that many others dont have that unconditional support in this struggle. I will say a prayer for starter and her mum and also for all of you who are battling this without family support. Stay strong friends, be positive and slay the dragon...love Saffx

              Hello All

I'm new to your thread, and returning after months away. Hopefully its OK for me to join your group "Meow"

Love this quote Techie. Drinking AL has been killing the life inside of me but I'm here and ready to take my life back. Yeah!

                Thought For Day 6

                Make worry impossible
Worry is possible only when you forget how strong you can be. Worry is possible only when you forget how creative and effective and resilient you can be.
When you feel worry, you're feeling something that is based on a misinterpretation of the truth. For the truth is that you can respond in a powerful, positive and successful way to whatever may happen.

You've successfully navigated a lifetime of challenges. You've made it through countless difficult and demanding situations.

With each new day, you've become stronger, more knowledgeable, more experienced and more capable. And as such, you can choose to replace every negative worry with multiple positive actions.

Remind yourself of all the good and valuable things you've done. Remind yourself of the outstanding opportunities available to you right now.

Fill your mind with thoughts of your strengths, your passions, your effectiveness, and your positive possibilities. And you'll make worry impossible for you.

Hubs will read that, Tech, as well as my son. Thanks. Son's recent divorce has STILL not had the desired result, and his problems continue, but only HE can fix it. Complaining and whining certainly has not.

It's very hard to maintain that worry free positive mindset. I think the goal is to try hard, as it is a learning process. I too struggle with this and allow the worries of my past override the positives. I'm still, and will always be, a work in progress!

I crossed train tracks at lunchtime and convinced myself my pant-leg was going to get caught on a spike, then I was going to fall down across the rails, and a train was going to come zooming around the corner at 150 mph and vivisect me. There's a great Aussie movie called "Look Both Ways" about a woman consumed with irrational fears. It could've been written about me. Big fears, little fears, I don’t discriminate.

The hardest part about quitting drinking is keeping daily company with those. Oh well, can’t show them the door if I'm drunk, can I?

                        Happy Ocsober 5th,

                        xoxo Pride

                                Morning all,

Thanks for that reminder Techstar. It is too easy to become emersed in the worry cycle and allow it to take us over. Worrying about yesterday creates bitterness, anger and depression about things that cannot be changed. Worry about tomorrow creates fear and anxiety about what may happen and can paralyse us into inaction and despair. Most of all worry about yesterday and tomorrow depletes our energies to be able to live wholly and fully in the present moment...where life is actually happening. I see it as my greatest and most life affirming challenge to be present and give it my full attention. Someone on MWO has this as there signature and I love it: 'TODAY IS THE TOMMORROW THAT WE WORRIED ABOUT YESTERDAY, AND IT TURNED OT FINE' have an awesome day my friends. Saffx
