I can understand that Tip .... my youngest sister had the same reaction. When we were kids, whenever there was thunder I would have to get into her bed with her to stop her shaking. Whenever it starts ( a rare occurrence in the area we live in), she freezes completely - literally almost paralysed by fear, so I can empathise :l
Isn't it amazing what comfort cats can be? The very same cub puts a cat under her arm when she goes to bed at night. Without one of them, it takes her quite a bit longer to fall asleep.Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

I'm exhausted. Been up all night transforming my ceiling into the Cistine (sic) chappel muppet style, now I can sleep soundly knowing all the undies are with me:H Will take votes today on who is who in their muppet persona...so think hard...once allocated, thats it...no changing.
