SPITBALL PITCH
Another famous user of the pitch was Gaylord Perry, who went so far as to title his autobiography Me and the Spitter. (For example, Gaylord would put vaseline on his zipper because umpires would never check there.) Don Drysdale and Lew Burdette also used the pitch regularly.
Like many pitchers, Don Sutton was often accused of using foreign substances on the ball. "Not true at all," he once replied. "Vaseline is manufactured right here in the United States!""Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Warning! Vaseline is Deadly!
Today, I went to Walgreen's for a tub of Vaseline. The old guy at the counter looked at me, winked, and said, "Not having too much luck with the ladies, eh?" He was right. FML"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Warning! Vaseline is Deadly!
tip # 174
A good way to prevent your doors from freezing is to (no lie) spread vassoline on the door seals. The oil will help dispel the water that freezes.
Hope this helps - I know first hand how much it sucks to be frozen out of your car on a cold winter night!

Warning! Vaseline is Deadly!
Q: I’ve always heard Vaseline actually was a product that people working around oil rigs came up with. What is the story behind that?
A: You’ve heard correctly, according to the company’s website, vaseline.com. The site has a section dedicated to the product’s history.
It states a chemist, Robert A. Chesebrough, of New York, went to Pennsylvania in 1859 to investigate an oil well, hoping to find a way to profit from the fledging industry.
Chesebrough discovered a substance known as “Rod Wax” was causing trouble by sticking to the drilling rigs and causing them to get stuck. He also noticed, though, that oil workers would smear it on their skin to soothe cuts and burns. So, he took some Rod Wax home and extracted petroleum jelly from it.
Chesebrough marketed the product in 1870, calling it Vaseline. It caught on, and soon mothers used it to protect their babies from diaper rash, and people working outdoors relieved chapped skin with it. Robert Peary took it with him — because it wouldn’t freeze — when he became the first person to reach the North Pole.
By the 1880s, Vaseline sold at a rate of a jar per minute in the United States. The company expanded into Europe, Canada and Africa by 1911.AF since 10/26/2009
