Joining the AF ranks today and not drinking! Loving this new body and new life and I'm not gonna mess it up this time. I owe it to myself to stay sober and stay healthy. Life is too good sober!

I have to say that yesterday I came on here around the same time of day and posted that I would not drink that day. Later on, of course, drinking thoughts entered my pea brain. Like, oh, what if I switched to just a shot of rum before dinner instead of a bottle of red. Then, I remembered that I had written on here that I wouldn't be drinking today and said to myself, "you already told "them" that you wouldn't drink today, period. So that is it, you will not be drinking today". So, my point is that even if you are a pea brain like me and that AL gets into your brain and tries to get you to drink, this thread REALLY works because it's like you put it in print and let other read it, it makes you stick to your guns. So, go ahead and post here because it may sound redundant but if it helps you just once or 20 times or 1,000, it is WORTH it to not cave in to the beast!

Oh, by the way, I am not going to drink today. Period.

But what if you physically will go thru withdrawals if you don't and can not loose your job? I would love to say NO now but I am physically addicted.....can't loose my job because there is no one else to support 2 kids but I sincerely know I need help BADLY!

I'm not drinking today. It's so bad sometimes. Such a flipping struggle. My Dad called me on Sunday at 5:00ET and I knew he had just gotten started. At least he waited to call before he got too drunk. It used to be he'd be sloshed and call me and lecture me. Been like that my whole life. If not for my kids, I want to be sober so I don't end up like him. Thanks for the vent.
