I am not going to drink today because I feel a little depressed, and poison would only make it worse. Instead I'm going to eat healthy foods, hug my kids, and keep in mind how much better I'll feel tomorrow if I don't drink tonight.

Have a question for Doggy or anyone else who is pretty familiar with AA though. In general, is AA pretty open to the use of Antabuse or is it generally frowned upon? I get the sense it is generally frowned upon but wanted to check it out with someone one who has much more AA experience than I do. Any input appreciated.

Lucky, you can PM Doggygirl or visit the AA thread under Monthly Abstinence. I'm just starting AA, so I don't know the answer but I'm sure she will. There are also other people on the AA thread who would know.

Just so you know, I went to my first AA meeting last week and am going again this Saturday. From what I can tell, I highly recommend it. I'll be posting on the AA thread about it.

I am not going to drink today because one day I want to be able to do something besides just not drink and if I drink today the day that I don't have to think about not drinking will be further away than it is right now. I think about the 90 day rule a lot. . .what you were doing 90 days ago dictates what you will be doing today so what you do today dictates what you will be doing in 90 days. . .in 90 days I hope to be in a better place that I am today so I will make good choices today to facilitate that.

Great posts! I am getting to that point where my life is about a WHOLE lot more than just not drinking. I feel like I'm finally living! So I definitely don't want to screw that up by drinking today. For today, I'm AF. The decision is made.

Jen, you are so right, the longer we stay sober, the sooner we'll get to the place where al doesn't consume our thoughts and being sober just feels natural. I'm looking forward to that time too. I am alread getting there!! To have to start over is just unthinkable to me - I feel like I have something very precious that I would never want to compromise. So, not only am I not going to drink today, I'm not even tempted!!

Good morning everyone.

I'm not going to drink today because I want to wake up on my 15th day sober. I want to wake up feeling as good as I have the last 2 weeks, before the alarm, no anxiety attacks, and fresh to start the day.
