in that book "7 weeks to sobriety" i read that the number of yrs a civilisation has been exposed to alcohol seems to correlate with how well they "deal" with it. ie mediterranean eg Italians & greeks, have been having alcohol for thousands of years yet the % of alcoholics amongst them is not as high as the Scottish/English/Irish - the celtic peoples have been drinking al for a few hundred years & the % of alcoholics is higher, then likewise look at the Native Americans & Indigenous Australians : only been exposed to al for a shorter time & more prone to alcoholism apparently....intersting.

Morning all!
Yep Beagos, that is interesting stuff. I wonder if there is less going off to the pub/bar/getting sloshed of an evening with our meditteranian cousin's, and more emphasis on family activities? But there will alway's be a few barfly's in any culture i suppose, and maybe we have more than most. But getting sloshed whether at home with family, or at a pub is all too common here. Maybe i'm kinda 'lucky' in that the drinker's i know, are fairly hardcore drinker's and people, and when i say i'm not drinking, there is surprise, but a quick respect and understanding for that. I think it's the 'part timer's' who wouldn't have a clue, and know not what they say.
Lot's of rain here. What weird weather. Orf to the day gig this w/kend.
A marvellous weekend to everyone.

Quiet day here today ........ have been neglecting Mum a bit lately, so we are off to the garden centre this morning where we'll have a coffee and she can advise me on tomato plants and some other stuff for the front garden. Have a pre--race briefing to attend for tomorrow and better do some stuff on the bike to make sure that all the brakes and gears are not going to play up on me. And apart from a walk in the afternoon with Mr B that will be about it.
have a good one alllNever give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Morning Missy,
Re the Nair. Ok, i shall qualify. Look away now everyone else! I do get a bit of hair round the shoulder blade area, so i admit to slapping a bit on there. But it's fairly difficult to get it all, so i don't worry half the time. My chest is hairy, but i don't mind that.
Carry on.

Ticketty-boo here this morning.
Litterally too many things on today that I want to attend.
What a change from not being arsed to get out of bed at all.
Have you ever thought that this recruiting people into drinking is a form of controlling behaviour ?If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning Mr G, Missy and all to come,
I've noticed when I've had international guests of the European kind that, although they're all drinkers, they tend to look forward to having "a nice glass of wine" with dinner and MEAN it.
Gee, some mornings it's nice to cruise around the boards. I'm stoked that Boycie's racked up 3 weeks; Oney's off the fags for six months; LilMichelle has posted gorgeous photos of her kids; Techie's not suffering any signs of PTS following my unkind thwarting of his amorous advances; heaps of lovely gentle threads of people quietly supporting each other ... makes you go all warm and fuzzy.
Haven't had the 'weather' here so I'm wondering if I've missed it - just a bit of light rain but nothing like the "brace-yerself-Beryl" stuff I was expecting.
Holy heck - I need to type faster - HUGE cross-postage occurred there. Hi to all I missed.
