Morning Jan and all to come
Not a firework person myself, it really upsets the animals so I spend it with the telly and radio at full blast trying to stop the dogs going demented.

Thank goodness its Friday. Been a long week it seems and could do with a few days off.

the spanish obviously don't celebrate it, but many british comunities here do, and don't think about their pets...fecking idiots..!
the spanish are normaly pretty good as they are used to it with soooooo many fiesta during the year, all including massive firework displays,
even football gets fireworks, rockets and loud bangers for goals scored..!!

          Good Morning Army.

Hiya Jan and Starty and hello to all who drop by later.

Hope you all have a really

This for those celebrating today. From what I read it's a UK holiday...

The "Earth Calendar" says that it's also "Colon Day" in Panama...

          Hope you all...

P.S. Freddie hates fireworks, too. He barks and barks. Hates any loud noises. I think it goes back to when he was a stray and living on the streets.

It's hellish Jan! It's my lifeline to the outside world (well to you guys & my fb friends :H that is my world!) I stay home alone so much and I never actually feel alone, this week has been so frustrating and I realize how much I rely on it....

Jan I just saw your thread about pets and fireworks. Good for you. They set off firecrackers at all the churches at Easter here. At midnight just as Saturday turns to Sunday. Mostly younger people do it - kids in their teens and early twenties. They have smaller firecrackers but they also have those really loud firecrackers too -the ones that make a big bang. I find it scary and senseless really. I much prefer fireworks in that they don't make much noise and are so pretty to watch. The animals get terribly frightened and there are always a good number of dogs that bolt from their yards in attempt to get away from the noise. Then if they don't have a microchip or a dog tag, they usually go missing. It's really sad for the animals. Can't say much for the owners if they haven't taken measures to make sure their pets can't get loose.

What's up with your week Chill? What's been bugging you? And when does your new job start?

you really suprise me chilli, I thought you got out and about alot from the way you tell us about cycle club, gym and all different social things you seem to be doing, as you always seemed to be a busy, busy lady with people coming to visit..sorry I had the wrong impression I didn't realised you were a loner..never could've imagined..
so yep for you it is mega important the internet connection, but then again if it is that important for "contact" for you, you do need to get out & about more & interact with people..
can be very lonely stuck alone at home..and could be a trigger to the unthinkable..!!

never mind hopefully the job will be a hit and keep you very busy..
how's it going with the excell training.?? it's next week you start isn't it..???? :goodjob:

Hi all. I haven't posted on your thread before, but would like to "widen out" (in a MWO sense) and get to know more of the beautiful people here.
My Mum had two burmese cats that loved fireworks. They would sit in the upstairs window and enjoy the spectacle. They also enjoyed thunder storms and lightning displays.
My weiro (cockateil to most) hates anything noisy and makes sooky noises so I put her on my shoulder for the duration. On thundery nights I sleep like a log and wake up to poopsies on my pillow. She is never shut in and has the run of the house.
We used to have Guy Falkes night when I was a kid, but there were so many injuries like kids being blinded that it was ended. That's okay with me, but I really miss the bonfires.

Welcome Mish, lovely to see you here.

Chilli would you believe when we were posting last night and I suddenly disappeared the connection went down here too. I do understand how when suddenly is taken away we only realise how much we rely on it for both business and pleasure and I suppose a life line at times.

Mish - good to see you here. I think you're usually on the Undies thread. Lovely to have you here. All are welcome in the barracks.
Funny about those cats and fireworks and thunder. Most animals are frightened by loud noises.
As for the firecrackers - as I said earlier, I much prefer fireworks that aren't so noisy and I adore bonfires.
