Today is Day ONE!????
747pm...The demons have arrived... I knew they would. I can feel them talking to me. Telling me I can't do this. This so called friend of mine has been with me for over 20 years, and now here he sits telling me all sorts of lies about my character and strength, bringing up fears about sleep and restlessness, anxiety toward withdrawls and feelings of illness.
Here it is...the edge. What some people call cravings, some demons...I opt for the edge. In my mind I envision an island, not surrounded by water but air. I have been trapped there most my life. What happenes if I jump I am told is that I will be born again into a new life that will not be entrapped by the invisible walls of the island, but in order to have this new life, I must jump...off...the...edge...
I close my eyes, and think of all the times I have watched friends and family jump. Only to see them dancing far off in the distance, living free. I have to jump...
I know that at the same time this battle to jump off this edge will be a daily decision that I will have to make on my own. So today, I tell the demons to back the hell off!!!! I am going to jump!!! I am NOT GOING TO DRINK TODAY!!!! I AM NOT GOING TO LIVE ON THIS ISLAND TODAY!!!!!!! NOT TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can do it Trap. You really can. Get away from the area where you would drink, your triggers. After this day you will feel better. You will feel so much better in the morning you wlil not believe it. Deep breaths, a big glass of water or herbal tea. Tell those demons to go straight back to hell where they belong. You are stronger, MUCH STRONGER than they will ever be. You have friends here and we are here for you. Do this for you. Do this for your child and for your amazing life. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!February 27th, 2013. A New , Successful Start. :h
When everything seems like an uphill struggle, just think of the view from the top!!

Today is Day ONE!????
Hey Trapster,
Just checking in to see how you are doing. If you haven't taken an xanax since late afternoon, it won't hurt for you to take another one now. It will take the edge off for you tonight.
The days almost over and it's almost time for bed. Every AF day that you get under your belt will increase your confidence in being able to do this.
If you would like some good reading tonight, check out the Toolbox thread in the Monthly Abs section. Lots of great advice on getting and staying sober.
I have three children ages 13 and under. The best thing I could have ever done for them and myself was to quit drinking.

2. There is no alcohol in Xanax, go for it if it takes the edge off, but as Greenie says, don't use it as a replacement.
3. In the early days, I used to come on here and post music, read old posts, go into chat etc etc, it kept me and my hands busy and before I knew it, it was time for bed.
I PROMISE you one thing TD, if you do today and get that one AF day done, it will pave the way for many others, the first is the worst and you WILL make it....it's a matter of hanging on and getting thru the night, it is not easy but it IS doable and you will be delighted with yourself in the morn...
Oh and for the boredom thing....
