    AF BOOT CAMP Day 2

    Zenstyle;1001263 wrote: Morning Techie!

Porridge for brekkies (with a cup of coffee I must admit...) and a slew of supplements. Workout today will be a total body aerobic, free weights, ab work combo plus stretching... 1hr of that. Going to really watch what I'm putting in my cake hole today!
Looking good w/ that plan Zen!

In today Healthy Lifestyles I'm going to put in information re: Chia seeds and the remarkable HEALTH & DIET benefits. I use them and you will too!

Going to buy some chinese tea tnt and some Redbush, and try and ween myself off the coffee and red bull, as I see this as my biggest vice at the moment.

BAD THINGS... Had 3 cups of coffee, a danish pastry and 1 cig.
Am now going to have sausage and mash for lunch with a bottle of water.
        Not bad ay Sarge?
Not bad, but drop the dang blasted cig and that hockey puck of nutrition...the danish!

Too dang cold to walk the pup this morning. So far I've had a cup of tea, a vitamins and baclofen. Will have oatmeal for breakfast, even though I don't like it. Plan to add a lot of milk and drink it really fast!

I keep confusing the Army thread with the Boot camp thread.

OK TTT makin progress. Oatmeal goog. Milk to drink milk...garbage. You'll get more calcium eating leafy Greens. Take a Vit D supplement!

Day 11 no booze! (At least I did that right!)

Stretched and did a little excercise this am before I got in the shower - my neck and back are killing me lately for some reason! I will continue stretching throughout the day and sleep with no pillow - hope that will do the trick!

Had a fried baloney sandwich for breakfast - BAD I was in a rush to get something as I was running late and have three kids in three different schools. I call this day each week "NO FOOD THURSDAY" meaning by this time in the week, our cupboards are bare...lol You eat what we have until I go to the market! We didn't even have any fruit in the house!

Snack - a few shredded wheats

Lunch will be leftover pasta with turkey meatballs.

Lots of green tea and water today.

The breakfast was a disaster, but the rest of your plan is GREAT. Makin progress!!!

          AF BOOT CAMP Day 2

          Reporting for duty, Sir.

          AM - 3 mile jog
Whole Wheat waffles with almond butter
          Fresh squeezed orange juice

Snacks - healthy trail mix, almonds, cashews, Whole Foods organic gummi candy w/natural coloring

Lunch - beans and rice, homemade bread

Dinner - soy "riblets", baked potato, Bubbies pro-biotic sauerkraut (Whole Foods)

Beverages: Lots of water, Wheatgrass shot, Tulsi Tea, Matcha tea

Trying to keep the sugar to a minimum, Sir.

Below - sir - info about beet root. Incidentally, sir, I buy many things that have been colored with beet root instead of artificial coloring - very healthy stuff, Sir. (NOTE THAT IT'S GOOD FOR LIVER REPAIR OF ALKIES, SIR)

          Beet Root Health benefits
Beetroots are a rich source of potent antioxidants and nutrients, including magnesium, sodium, potassium and vitamin C, and betaine, which is important for cardiovascular health. It functions by acting with other nutrients to reduce the concentration of homocysteine, a homologue of the naturally occurring amino acid cysteine, which can be harmful to blood vessels and thus contribute to the development of heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. Betaine functions in conjunction with S-adenosylmethionine, folic acid, and vitamins B6 and B12 to carry out this function.[2]

Additionally, several preliminary studies on both rats and humans have shown betaine may protect against liver disease, particularly the build up of fatty deposits in the liver caused by alcohol abuse, protein deficiency, or diabetes, among other causes. The nutrient also helps individuals with hypochlorhydria, a condition causing abnormally low levels of stomach acid, by increasing stomach acidity.[2]
Beetroot juice has been shown to lower blood pressure and thus help prevent cardiovascular problems. Research published in the American Heart Association journal Hypertension showed drinking 500 ml of beetroot juice led to a reduction in blood pressure within one hour. The reduction was more pronounced after three to four hours, and was measurable up to 24 hours after drinking the juice. The effect is attributed to the high nitrate content of the beetroot. The study correlated high nitrate concentrations in the blood following ingestion of the beetroot juice and the drop in blood pressure. Dietary nitrate, such as that found in the beetroot, is thought to be a source for the biological messengernitric oxide, which is used by the endothelium to signal smooth muscle
, triggering it to relax. This induces
          vasodilation
          and increased blood flow.[3]

Other studies have found the positive effects beetroot juice can have on human exercise and performances. In studies conducted by the Exeter University, scientists found cyclists who drank a half-litre of beetroot juice several hours before setting off were able to ride up to 20 per cent longer than those who drank a placebo blackcurrant juice. #0645ad;">[4]

OMG I cant believe you dont have beetroot!! Beetrooot (and broccolli) are wonder-foods!! Raw, it is fantastic in salads and juice (even if it turns your pee a little pink :H:H).

Traditional use use of beetroot in NZ and Ozz is cooked with a tiny bit of vinegar and added to burgers and salads (In fact, even McDonalds has beetroot on its burgers here!!)

I bet they eat in in Southern US states ......

                AF BOOT CAMP Day 2

First time reporting in. Not good on the excerise - I have been working very long days to try and stay distracted from other bad stuff and exhausted by the time I get home. I will work on adding at least a 30 minute walk after work. Nutrition, well I take lots of supps (Synergy 3000 Multivitamins, Amino Gold Capsules, Livercare and Super Thisilyn) and drink lots of water. For breakfast I had 2 pieces of raisen toast and lunch is turkey breast and mashed potatoes. That is probably not the right stuff to eat but I have never ate well and I need to change that too. Not a lover of fruits and veggies - I bought a smoothie maker to try to "drink" them and trying to train myself to like them - working on that.

I am printing out the daily boot camp instructions and keeping them in a binder to keep referring to for motivation/education.

Don't give up on me yet.
AL free since March 17th 2011...loving this life. No drinking no matter what.
