    AF BOOT CAMP DAY 3

Sarge says: Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be. NOW MOVE YOURSELVES OUT!!!

    Motivation:

This is a day filled with possibilities. This is a day when you can get results.
Though conditions may not be perfect, still they are sufficient for you to move forward. Though circumstances may not he ideal, within those circumstances you can most certainly make progress.

What is it that you would like to achieve? What is it that you wish to change, improve upon, create, express or experience?

If you ever want it to happen, now is when you must do something about it. If it is your desire to see it come about, it is your responsibility to make the necessary effort.

Nothing ever gets accomplished someday by somebody. If it is to happen, it must be done on a specific day by a specific person.

Let today be that day. And let yourself be that person.

    Healthy Lifestyle:

    Discover Matcha Tea

    What is Matcha Tea?

Matcha - literally, "powdered tea" - is a special type of green tea: a precious, jewel-green powder that is whisked with hot water in a bowl to make a frothy beverage of the same name. Preparation of matcha is the focus of the Japanese tea ceremony and has a long association with Zen. Matcha is the only form of tea in which the whole leaf is consumed, and because it is made from top-quality leaves that are treated with great care, it delivers more of the healthful elements of green tea than other forms. A unique, beautiful and richly flavorful drink, matcha gives most people a feeling of well-being. In addition, the simple ritual of preparing it is both enjoyable and meditative.

For matcha, unlike most other forms of green tea, farmers cover the plants with heavy shade cloth for three weeks prior to harvest in May. This causes the new shoots to develop larger, thinner leaves with better flavor and texture. Harvesting is by hand, and only the youngest, smallest leaves are selected for the best quality matcha. Farmers steam the leaves briefly to stop any fermentation, then dry them and pack them in bales for cold storage. Aging deepens the flavor of the tea, which becomes optimum

    Health Benefits of Matcha

In addition to providing trace minerals and vitamins (A, B-complex, C, E, and K), matcha is rich in catechin polyphenols - compounds with high antioxidant activity. These compounds offer protection against many kinds of cancer, help prevent cardiovascular disease and slow the aging process. They also reduce harmful cholesterol in the blood, stabilize blood sugar levels, help reduce high blood pressure and enhance the resistance of the body to many toxins. The most important polyphenol in matcha is EGCG (epigallo-catechin gallate), which is the subject of many medical studies. Matcha has a significant amount of dietary fiber and practically no calories.

    Exercise:

The human body is meant for movement. A wide variety of modern epidemics, from heart disease to diabetes to osteoporosis, are rooted in our sedentary lifestyles. Lifelong physical activity is crucial to optimum health, but running marathons is not required.

Sir, I have this exact wisk and (looks like) cup, sir. Just wanted the troops to know, Sir, that all is available on Amazon.com. Serendipy (link below or order from Amazon) makes an organic culinary grade that is supposedly fresh -- something to be aware of when ordering Matcha. I sweeten mine with Agave, nectar, Sir (no sugar spikes).

        Matcha Tea

Matcha tea - an acquired taste. Oney - have to tell you, it's not like any tea you've ever had. Very different, so be prepared. It's kind of thick - you actually use the whisk to froth it up. I would also recommend the matcha bowl. The tea will seem expensive, but keep in mind that you only use a teaspoon. I've gotten really into tea - something I wouldn't have done when I was drinking. I don't think of it as a replacement for Al, just a wonderful new experience in my life. Tulsi tea is another I would recommend highly (made by Organic India). Finally, can't say enough good things about Agave nectar. It's the perfect sweetener for tea because it's light, natural, and much better for you than other sweeteners. I like the "light" version of Agave. Not sure you have it there?? Buon appetito!

Agave Nectar for a liquid sweetner; Stevia extract for small quanitites of dry (comes in packets and can be purchased at Whole Foods).

Stevia is a genus of about 240 species of herbs and shrubs in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), native to subtropical and tropical regions from western North America to South America. The species Stevia rebaudiana, commonly known as sweetleaf, sweet leaf, sugarleaf, or simply stevia, is widely grown for its sweet leaves. As a sweetener and sugar substitute, stevia's taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, although some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at high concentrations.
With its extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has garnered attention with the rise in demand for
              low-carbohydrate
, low-sugar food alternatives. Medical research has also shown possible benefits of stevia in treating
              obesity
              and
">high blood pressure. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets.
The availability of stevia varies from country to country. In a few countries, it has been available as a sweetener for decades or centuries; for example, stevia is widely used as a sweetener in
              Japan
where it has been available for decades. In some countries, stevia is restricted or banned. In other countries, health concerns and political controversies have limited its availability; for example, the United States banned stevia in the early 1990s unless labeled as a supplement, but in 2008 approved rebaudioside-A extract as a food additive. Over the years, the number of countries in which stevia is available as a sweetener has been increasing.

Oney - Tulsi tea comes in a bag and is what I drink most of the time.

                Benefits of Tulsi Tea

Holy Basil (Tulsi) is called the "Queen of Herbs"

Tulsi tea, which originated in India thousands of years ago, is known for its rich antioxidant and adaptogenic properties that are known to promote wellness by building the body?s immune system, reducing stress and promoting mental clarity.
It is recognized as one of India's most sacred herbs because of its health benefits and healing properties. Tulsi tea's antioxidants protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals that facilitate the cause and progression of various types of diseases.
Also referred to as holy basil tea, this herbal brew?s adaptogens serve as powerful anti-stress agents that protect your body from a wide range of health concerns.
The adaptogens guard against and deal with physical, chemical, environmental, and emotional factors that produce high levels of stress that compromise physical and mental health.

                          Reporting Sarge on Day 3.

I find that the hardest thing to exercising is often getting that first foot out the door. If everyone just said I will walk for 5 minutes, they might do it and once out that door it will turn into 15, 20minutes or more. Just get out the door, walk down to the end of the block. Once you get there you'll probably go a little further.
