AF BOOT CAMP Day 4 (upping the anti)

OK its DAY 4. ARE YOU FEELIN IT? Sarge is in a baaad state. He has been jilted by a woman. Yup the old story, I was just too much soldier for her. We met on a grassy knoll, her clammy skin all glowing green. I was smitten from the start....Ah jeez where am I going with this. YOU SLIME BALLS ERASE THAT IMAGE FROM YOUR MINDS..and GET YOUR BUTTS MOVIN..

Sarge says: Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritation and resentments slip away, and a sunny spirit takes their place.

    Motivation:

Even when the pain is great, the goodness in your life is greater. Feel that goodness, wrap your awareness around it, and act on it.
You have always known what joy feels like, and you can always allow that joy to flow out through your life. Each joy lives again, even more intensely, every time it is recalled.

Gently let go of the beliefs that you need this thing or that situation. Your spirit is always free to soar without limit, no matter what.

And when it does, when you allow the joy, when you celebrate the goodness, you bring real value to all that is around you. Instead of pretending that your troubles are an excuse to back down, see that they're actually an opportunity to enrich your life.

Every beauty exists solely because you see it as such. Choose to see the beauty woven through all that is.

The love in your life is greater than anything that might seem to bring you down. Allow that love to carry you forward no matter what.

    Chia Seed Benefits

Chia Seeds are a super food that you should know about!

The picture to the left shows two chia seeds striking a pose on the skin of a lime. The seed on the left is swollen and has a gel like outer layer after soaking for about 5 minutes in water. The seed on the right is a dry chia seed. The size difference is amazing. You can see the 'superness' of this super food with your own eyes!

Many of us have heard of the Chia Pet. Some of us even remember the catchy "chi, chi, chia" jingle! But have you heard of eating chia seeds? Chia seeds are quite remarkable. In fact, they are one of the most nutritious superfoods known! Chia is an edible seed that comes from a member of the mint family called Salvia hispanica, which grows in southern Mexico. It used to be a common crop centuries ago, but was nearly forgotton. Now, it is making a comeback and more readily available. Let's take a look at our list of 11 chia health benefits and chia nutrition facts.

What Chia Can Do For You!

[*]Helps Stablize blood sugar and reduce junk food cravings - Remember the picture of the gel around the chia seed in our picture above? The gel forming is due to soluble fiber in the chia. In your digestive system, this gel actually slows down the conversion of carbohydrates to sugar, thus helps to stablize blood sugar. By eliminating the peaks and valleys of your blood sugar, you get a more consistent energy level and reduced cravings.[*]Help your concentrate and improve your mood- Chia is an excellent source of Essential Fatty Acids, which are critical for concentration and other brain functions.[*]Energize now, Sustained energy later!-Chia has great nutrients like proteins, essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and fiber, and complex carbohydrates to energize you. Chia can provide good stamina and energy over time due to its slowing of the sugar conversion mentioned in point 1. In fact, it has been called the runners food and was used by the Aztec Indians for long distance runs and endurance. Fills you up - Chia seeds actually swells in water and help to make you feel full and potentially eat less. Take a look at the chia seed picture again and see how much each seed actually swells in just a ew minutes Lower your cholesterol and heart health - Remember what is causes chia to swell in water? Chia is high in soluble fiber. Soluble fiber has been shown to help lower cholesterol. Digestive Health
    - Chia has both soluble fiber (which forms the outer gel), and insoluble fiber. Both types of fiber are healthy for the digestive system. The insoluble fiber helps cleans the intestinal tract. The soluble fiber can act as a prebiotic and help feed the good bacteria in your digestive system. ng>Help build lean muscle mass - Chia is high in protein and helpful in a weight loss or muscle building diet. It is even low-carb and vegetarian.[*]Get Better nutrition from other foods - Remember the gel in point 1? Well, by maintaining the proper level of hydration and electrolytes in your stomach you actually optimize your bodies ability to effectively absorb other nutrients. Also. the essential fatty acids in chia help the body emulsify and absorbs the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.[*]Build strong bones - Chia not only contains calcium, but it also contains the trace mineral boron, which speeds the rate at which calcium is absorped and utlized by the body.Healthy nails, skin, and hair - Remember that chia seeds are loaded with over 60% essential fatty acids? Not only are they good for your mental clarify, those same essential fatty acids help skin, nails, and hair grow strong and healthy. You don't find them too often. AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER FOR THAT LACTIC ACID BUILDUP....NOW GET GOING...Women!

Techie, an early line in your fabulous inspirational post mentioned "the pain is great..."

That reminded me of a water bottle I won in a raffle at the Weight Watchers 5K walk. (the WW center is right next door to a marine recruiting office!) On the side of the water bottle in huge letters is:

PAIN IS WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY!

                    :H:H:H

Sorta true I guess. The pain of quitting AL has certainly made me stronger. Today, the weakness of wanting a drink like a little crybaby has left my body.

Hello all. On the train after a nice dinner at 202 in Chelsea Market. Not my first pick, but a client loves the place. Well I have done as much as possible to distract myself from the inevitable company downsizing next week. My org will lose 23 managers. I've been working overtime trying to place as many as possible via my industry contacts. I absolutely dread Monday morning as even today I could sense the stress beginning to ratchet up. However, I WILL get through this and get through sober. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!
