    Feeling Kinda Shaky Today

    Hi Rusty!
Oh yes...the "shower incident"...funny how I'd forgotten huh? But yeah, I was bruised for almost 2 weeks!!
Regarding the Antabuse, I am down to taking it once every 3 days, but it's been over a week because I missed my previous dose. I normally take it every third day, first thing in the morning. This "cycle" is crazy, this is exactly what happened last time.

      Hi K9,

Do you know some people have those cravings for YEARS after being AF? One of my best friends is one of those people. She's been sober for 10 years and she STILL gets cravings!

Hi K9 - Want to know what's really good? I big fattening ice cream sundae. Or, I have stopped for a chocolate milk shake two different times. Stopped the cravings. A bunch of calories but I would have had that many if I drank anyway.

K9, have you eaten today? I know for me that the only time I start thinking about drinking is when I don't eat or eat late in the day.... It is always the 'food' that is missing when those nasty thoughts come about.

Hang in there. You are doing so very well!!

Wow... all this talk about how fattening junk food is...

If you think you are walking that slippery path towards binging on alcohol, any sort of junk food is better for you. Think about the ridiculous amount of calories in alcohol!!

Not to mention how bad it is for everyone on this forum.

Steer clear - if you need to pig out on KFC until you have to loosen a belt buckle and lay back on the couch feeling sick... well... at least you didn't DRINK.

Alcohol is only the social norm because it is legal. If coke was legal it'd be the social norm. It is so bad for you!!!

What you feel when you are drinking is not 'real' ... reality hits you when you wake up the next day with a hangover and hate yourself.

                    Take care.

                    A.

                    Fully AF since 16/4/11

It's been one hell of a ride.

Hi K9 - much as I wouldn't usually suggest sugar/ice cream, I have to go along with the others - if you can't get to your antabuse, then filling up on sugar will knock that craving on the head. It always does for my brother !! Hang in there - you can do this - remember the day after, last time? I have finally gone AF AGAIN and am going to stick to it this time - 2nd time a charm eh?? I know you can do this - you have helped me before, now I am holding out a hand to you.

                      Hugs, Sun xx

                            Hey K9,

                            How are you feeling today.

I will echo what KateH said. During the first year, it is common to have those thoughts/craving that come out of nowhere and hit you like a ton of bricks. Do you know what I found really worked? Having a good cry. Seriously, I would just go to my room or take a walk and cry.

Know that they do go away. I never have cravings anymore. Sometimes I have a, "it would be nice to have a glass of wine" thought but it does not overpower me.

                                Feeling Kinda Shaky Today

                                Hi K9,

You have control of yourself, remember that.

It's a shame you left your antabuse at home, and missed a dose. Why did you miss a dose? Could you not take another dose as soon as you realized you missed a dose? I don't know anything about antabuse so that's why I ask.

Have you ever considered that a part of your mind (the beast) is letting you forget to take it? Letting you leave it at home? Maybe you and your beast could have a little heart-to-heart conversation to let it know who's boss.

I hope to read that you are fine tomorrow!

                                With love,
                                T.
