    AF BOOT CAMP DAY 5 (ready to rumble)

    OK Ladies and Gentlemen Welcome to your second of boot camp. A special thanks to private Zenny for sending me a pair of her used high heels. NO GAT DANG GIGGLING..... Ma let me wear hers till I turned twenty-one. Then she said I was old enough to buy my own. Poor woman is in an institution now. Just stares out a window 24/7 and hums Disney's It's a Small World. ENOUGH OF THAT! This week I want EVERYONE TO GET SERIOUS....here's the program troops...

    Sarge says: After all is said and done, a lot more will have been said than done. NOW MOVE YOUR BUTTS AND GIT IT DONE!!!

    Motivation:


    Fighting against a sense of despair will only make it worse. Instead of letting despair feed on itself, do something positive and proactive to break the pattern. When you become angry about being angry, that will only make your anger more destructive. The more intensely you feel your frustration, the more frustrated you will become.

    The way out is to quickly and decisively break the pattern. Realize that the negative momentum is building and do something so completely unrelated that you knock it off track. Don't make your negativity stronger by fighting against it. Instead, make it irrelevant and powerless by turning your attention and putting your energy in a radically different direction.

    Be outrageously and unreasonably positive. Be funny and creative and ridiculous and joyful all at the same time.

    Smile, laugh and be enthusiastic about life even when you have no reason to be. By breaking the negative pattern, you'll create many great reasons to smile.

    Olive Oil

    Using olive oil in cooking and on foods instead of butter or margarine can help slow some of the effects of aging. More magazine states that the fat in olive oil increases the body's ability to absorb fat-soluble vitamins such as Vitamin D as well as cancer-fighting chemicals found in plants.     Broccoli

More magazine states that a plant chemical found in broccoli, called sulforaphane, speeds the function of enzymes in the body. In doing so, sulforaphane helps the body get rid of toxins faster. More magazine also states that the fresher the broccoli is, the more sulforaphane it contains, leading to more potent anti-aging effects.

    Acai


    Acai fruit is a healthy berry that comes from a palm tree in the Amazon. It has a rich flavor, which tastes like a cross between chocolate and berries. Acai can be found in many health food stores, usually in the form of dried acai berries or acai juice. Anti-aging specialist Dr. Nicholas Perricone says that acai is full of cancer-fighting antioxidants and amino acids that promote cell renewal. Perricone states that the essential fatty acids in acai also smooth membranes in the skin, reduce insulin levels and decrease inflammation in the body, one of the major causes of aging. The Mayo Clinic states that acai berries are a soild source for fiber, antioxidants and fats to help the heart.

    Healthy Recipe:

    Hemp Crusted Salmon, Yuzu Ponzu

    Ingredients
    SALMON
    6 5-ounce portions of wild king or wild sockeye salmon
    2 tablespoons hulled hemp seeds

    VEGETABLES
    1 pound chinese broccoli, cleaned & trimmed
    1 piece lotus root, peeled & sliced 1/4 inch thick
    1/2 pound snap peas, cleaned & trimmed

    SAUCE
    1 cup mushroom or vegetable stock
    1/4 cup yuzu juice
    1/2 cup soy sauce
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 tsp ginger, minced
    1 pinch red chili flakes (optional)


    Instructions



    For the salmon:[list type=decimal][*]Season[*]the salmon with salt & pepper & sprinkle with hemp seeds. Use a non-stick pan & coat with a small amount of olive oil. Working in batches to get good sear on the salmon portions, gently sear the salmon pieces on both sides and remove. Place on a baking sheet. Bake the salmon at 350 degrees for 12-18 minutes or until desired doneness.For the vegetables:Place all vegetables in a steamer pan and steam for 4-5 minutes or until bright green. They should be tender, but still a little crisp.[/list type=decimal]

    That salmon sounds great... I am fairly certain that I can't locate lotus root here though. I'm the token Scottish Shiksa in Boca... not sure they even know what it is... )

          And thanks for the Victoria Cross nomination Bridge :H:H My whole body feels sore. The only thing I have planned in the way of exercise today is a gentle bike ride over to the bike shop to get my bike serviced.

          I haven't done much in the way of food planning for this week, as I'll be away from home from tomorrow until Friday. But I shall be in Melbourne so there is no question that I shall eat supremely well!

          BTW, I could find only one NZ web site that has matcha tea on it. Guess its a trend that hasn't hit here yet!

              On the other hand, had Piri Piri Chicken with sweet potato (NOT CHIPS!) today and no dessert.

              Went shopping and must have walked about 6 miles.

                          90 minutes hockey later today. Hockey is a need not a want for us Canucks (aka Canadians). It's great to get into the anaerobic zone!

                          Breakfast uh oh you aren't going to like this. Bacon, eggs.... At least I had oj, whole wheat bread and fresh kiwi with it.

                          No lunch - WAY too full from breakfast

                          Supper - Roast beef dinner. I will have tonnes of salad and veggies so I wouldn't pig out as much on the meat, potatoes and gravy.

                          Will try everything in the tool box for avoiding beers with the ladies in the change rooms after the hockey game. Undress and get the heck out!

                          Okay back to smiling, giggling, laughing and acting down right silly!!! :H

                            Good Job & Attitude Meech. BTW, I love hockey. Played on a few club teams. This old trooper still has a pair of CCM Tackaberry's from the ole days. Gat dang relics. You youngins just call em tacks nowadays. Hell when I played, I would often do Sit Spins or a Hamill Camel just to confuse the opposition. Now PLEASE WORK ON THAT DIET. I'll see you in morning formation!!!

                              Sarge .... can you please provide a translation for "gat dang" !! The first couple of times I saw i I thought it was a typo. I now realise it is an expression of some sort. But what does it mean????
