It really is winds-day in Cape Town today. An no: I'm not referring to the usual tales of farting we find on this illustrious thread. The South-Easter (also called the Cape Doctor because it blows away all traces of foul air) is howling today.
Under conditions like these, it is too dangerous for the cable cars to go up Table Mountain or ferries to make the run across to Robben Island. Cape Point will be uncomfortable, to put it mildly. Poor tourists - we're awash in them this time of year. At least they'll be treated to some interesting sights. There are women in Cape Town who have not yet learnt that short skirts and strong winds do not work well together
