    Army Thread 26 November

    Yo Brats,

Chilly, sounds like you had a lovely afternoon, I would love to go to an AA meeting, I know too many people in this town, might go to one in the city soon, would just love to experience it.

Tiips, delighted Mr Cat is on the mend.

    Hi Expat and Stirly!

Zenners, that sounds like a horrible night...my night wasn't horrible, it was just funny..

He went straight from the pound to the vets for a few days and its been on going ever since. About two years ago he got sick and his head, literally, caved in on one side overnight. I took him to my vet and they said it was either a massive infection or a tumor... the x-rays were inconclusive and they said they'd need to biopsy him. So i took him to a specialist who said the same thing about the biopsy but didn't recommend it as he may not survive it. Off to a third vet which is the ones I'm with now (husband and wife like yours). Tried different meds for this and that and they finally hit upon the fact that he's diabetic (his glucose was at 390 which is astounding). Still nobody knows what caused the head thing but he just gets on with it and he's still kicking. Was off insulin for 6 months and stable but back into diabetic mode now. They said this may happen. (He's on diabetic food btw...)

Bit of a long post... soz!
Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you. I went to look up something on the net, saw a name I knew, then remembered that he was friends with my boss at the TV station I used to work at. So I ended up looking up people on FB and got carried away. Geez, I think somebody needs to lock up my computer and throw away the key..

Sorry you have had so much trouble with your kitty. That's a lot of things for a cat to go through. How old is he? You have another cat too, I think...

:hallo: Back home. Feels good to be in the cosy house with my son and dog walked (the pugster goes with me to pick up my son at school!)! Now I can kick back and take off my boots and just chill out. Speaking of AA meetings... I really looked into them before I found MWO. But as an expat (no family members or old friends here) and single mum who works full time--I just could not find any meetings. Most don't accept young children at the meetings and the only ones around here are in French. That would not really be a problem because I'm fluent but they don't allow kids! There are some English speaking meetings in the city centre of Paris but again--what am I supposed to do with my child??? It is pretty frustrating. I do feel like I isolate myself a bit too much at times. Well, its work all day and then home-shopping for dinner, homework, a bit of cleaning, dinner, baths etc and then start all over again the next day. Not trying to be negative here-there are some bright spots at the weekend and even some of the simple little everyday things. I am not depressed or bored. A little overwhelmed at times?? YES! I know Jan mentioned once that as a single mum it all falls on our shoulders and we are the only adult in the "casa", haha! Kinda scary sometimes. HMM... Just kinda writing and thinking at the same time . Hope I'm making sense. expat

Oh Thank you JC- but I think MWO online is already great! If I went to AA it would be for the human face to face contact. I do have the "big book" and also one of those daily AA meditation books that I read every morning. And I do have my religion-which I won't go into on this thread because I know there are other threads for that (I think there is still one?) but I did not really relate with their outlook. I am a semi-non-practicing Catholic-well, I'm divorced so obviously that was a big NONO, haha. My mother throws that in my face quite often. So I guess the best way to describe myself is spiritual but not really into organised religion-though after all my life of going to Mass I must admit to feeling comfort to enter a Catholic church to light a candle and meditate. And there are such gorgeous churches here in France! I'm feeling pretty good at the moment but the Christmas season is usually a trigger time for me. Homesick and far from home. I LOVE DUBLIN AT CHRISTMAS TIME! But there is no way we can afford a trip home:upset: what with the move and all. Also just learned that mum's biopsy came back as cancer-skin cancer-she's in her late 70's. She's supposed to go in on the 7th of Dec for "treatment". Don't have all the info yet. OK-Yes, I guess I'm pretty stressed out. Feeling kind of fragile.
