Good going, K9. I had a bad one yesterday and caved in to the voice in my head, so it's back to day one for me.

Good going K9 and "3PMers." :yougo:

Hi Blowsomebubbles. Congratulations on Day 2. I know this is hard. I hope you feel hopeful that if the rest of us can do this, then you can too! Hang in there. It takes a while, but it DOES get easier.

Hi All! Glad to hear you're doing so great K9 & Sunshine. I'm on Day 4 myself. I never really thought about antabuse as freeing up the day. Great idea. I go back to my Dr. next week, I was going to ask for Campral if I'm feeling cravings, but maybe I should consider antabuse. I've been taking Kudzu and the vitamins so far. Have a great evening all!

are there any days that are particularly harder than others? like day # ......
day 1 seemed easier than today. why is that? is it the amount of stressors/triggers, or is it the fact that your body is getting angry it doesnt have the al.

Hello and welcome! I defer to the long term abbers here, but I have to say in my past experience the first few days are usually not that hard for me, then around day 6 or 7 cravings really set in. Then they come and go -- I've only made it to 21 days in the past and on that day for me, I just caved. I'm hoping with some new tools and lots of posting and reading to make it through those days this time to a point when AL doesn't control my thoughts every day! Good luck! There's lots of good advice here!

My first (somewhat) sincere try I found day 3, 4, 7, 10 to be very difficult.. it took me something like 4 stabs at day 4. After day 10 it seemed like a breeze...

I'm a binge drinker and I never know when the voice is going to start telling me to drink. I'm currently attending the Fresh Start Recovery Programme and was told that drinkers of this kind are the hardest to treat. Typical and just my luck. However, I have always found day 7 hard to deal with. Maybe it's just an association thing...have you read Choochie's latest thread. Sounds like it could work for you.

                          BSB -
I always found days 3-4 to be the hardest. For me, getting past day 10 or so really made a difference, I wasn't thinking about it so much anymore. But be careful of thinking you are "safe" after ANY amount of time. I had a slip around day 160. Just stay stong, you CAN do this!

Keep at it K9, you can do it.

BSB, I found that the weekends were the worst. In the early 2 months, it was a battle, but the battle raged on the weekends for me. So many old habits, and patterns, that involved drinking on the weekends. Also, social events and family dinners etc, on weekends that involved alcohol, which put anxiety into my life, about not drinking, also made it harder to not drink.

Day 3 is definately the hardest for me to get past. I have a wall calendar that I mark every drink I drink on. I once was amazed to see the pattern of my drinking. Its every 3rd day I drink. Im also a binge drinker. I have never ever drank days in a row. Mishmash says those are the hardest to cure. Figures and makes sense to me. Just when you get feeling good is day 3 and then WHAM. Back to day 1 again.

Im back and going to be posting more often. I just havent been home alot these days. I miss you guys!!
