Hey K9,
Only just found your posts. You are doing great! At least you are picking yourself back up and trying. Thats what counts. At least you have alot of sober days behind you. xxBe strong-

Hi Guys, I have to say you are selling me on Antabuse! If I don't make it on my own this time I'm getting it. I love that there is no option to drink (without major trauma) once you take it -- so it's off your mind! And doesn't it take several days to get out of your system? You can't just not take the pill one day and drink, right?

Thanks Sunshine. I have an appt Dec 9. I think I will ask for a perscription even if I've stayed sober. It would be nice to have something like that in my back pocket if I start feeling weak -- which happens daily, but you know what I mean!

I'll answer as many Antabuse questions as I can.
The recommended time for starting Antabuse is at least 12 hours after your last drink. I always waited at least 18 just to "be sure".
I don't have any side effects, except for a little tiredness, but that goes away after about 7 days. I take 2x 250mg for the first 7 days, then 1x 250mg every day after.
I haven't had ANY side effects with mouthwash, perfume, soaps, hand sanitizer, etc...NONE! At first I was very scared of using any of these, but they are fine!
I drank one time before the Antabuse was completely out of my system and I had extreme heart racing, flushing and redness of the skin and a horrible headache. That was almost a week after my last pill. I can't imagine what it would be like to drink with the AB really in your system. So please, please, please commit to being AF if you are going to take Antabuse. It really does work, and I am so thankful for it...I owe my sobriety to it.:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Hey Fluff... I ordered mine online.. under the trade name "Chronol".
Same as K9 - No obvious side effects. My energy level is pretty low right now but I'm at least in part attributing that to surgery last week. If the tiredness IS a side effect, it should subside early next week - will let you knowOkay, WHO put a stop payment on my reality check?
